<{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I'm still very excited about WSBK, perhaps more than I was last season. Probably more equal parts excitement, but differing kinds of excitement.
Last year it was all about whether or not Spies would be able to do it. Could he learn the tracks and bike and tires and team fast enough? Then it was could he take it to Haga? Then it was could he make up all the points he lost through crashes and mechanicals? Then it was could he survive the wild challenges from Rea, Fabrizio and Biaggi? And he did it. But, for me anyways, I found the 2009 season too focused on one man.
Although 2010 appears to lack that super-special talent like Spies, I don't think there's ever been a deeper field with as many potential champions. On any given weekend you could choose any of the following riders for a win and you wouldn't be half wrong: Haga, Fabrizio, Rea, Neukirchner, Haslam, Toseland, Crutchlow, Checa, Shakey, Biaggi, or even Smrz, Camier or Guintoli as long shots. The depth of field is astounding, I've only been following the sport for a decade but I've never seen a grid this deep.
Completely agree with you Austin. Last year was bittersweet for me, being a big fan of Haga and seeing him finish runner up again. The season was made good by watching Spies put on a very memorable performance all year. The comeback and final showdown at seasons end made for some of the best moto racing drama we've had in years. This year certainly looks to have more parity between bikes/riders and as you say some of the best depth of any moto series we have seen.

Things not looking good for Vermi, but then again he decided to sign up for the big green career killer. The Kwaker sure isn't helping Sykes out either.
