WSBK Assen

I remember thinking, DUDE! What are you doing? You're on that Beemer with crap electronics that's never been a top of the podium winner and you're trying to pull a nine-second lead in the rain. What??? (Obviously he was having delusions of being Stoner).

Separated at birth! I was doing exactly the same an ocean apart. SLOW THE .... DOWN! Threw away a win easily. No but seriously, I want to tell every racer in the world, when the guy next to you crashes, and if you got a gap on everybody else by several seconds and keep lapping substantially faster than the pack while its RAINING ....YOU'RE GOING TO ....... CRASH!!!

Not sure what coverage you guys had but over here Steve Martin was basically screaming 'slow down' at him and basically tipped the crash as he was saying the Pirelli wet rear just lets go, and often when upright (from his experience).

From where I sat, comfortably in my expert's lounge chair as quick as he was, to me he looked a little ragged and likely to throw it down the road 'Pedrosaesque' (Germany anyone?) and while a shame, hopefully a lesson learnt. The unfortunate thing from the coverage that I watched was that every rider tipped to do well in teh wet by the English commentator basically fell, he was gutted.

As for the highlighted section - have you seen Supersports yet at all?

Asking as there is the exact difference in that race, a pure masterclass of skill and wet weather riding by a rider on a one off ride, and no, it was not West

As 50 is a couple of months away for me I sit in awe of youthful exuberance.

The way the Effenbert Ducatis are running.. I would agree.

I am wondering if the development has stopped for this model and all of the Ducati riders are basically on the same bike. Thus no technical advantage for Checa. The other Ducs had his lunch.

In extra big letters this week, so Drill can read it...

If you reffered to the race this weekend , its bogg down to more on the tire selection, wet track... I believe the twins are good on wet track due to its smoothness on power delivery and torque..I think Checa still got the advantages more or less on the technical support..

When Checa came past me on the inside I didn't see him until the last second, and I had to alter my trajectory. This pushed me wide onto the astroturf, which was still wet and very slippery. I don't really remember anything after that."

....... Checa running around on knobby tires, WTF was he thinking? That's twice hes almost killed somebody.

I guess the question that needs to be asked, why was Mcormick being overtaken by a guy on knobby tires

Best Brett quote from the interview on CBC Sask: "For me this was a crash that wasn't really completely my fault, we're racing in really unsafe conditions and I was pushed wide by another rider… I know why everything happened."

Yeah, see above: ....... Checa running around on knobby tires, WTF was he thinking?!!!!!

He was a lap up on Checa riding for 10th at the time. Checa had pitted and changed to slicks (hence being a lap down) and was pushing like a SOB to unfuck himself and get some points. So the answer is: he wasn't on knobbies at the time BUT his choice of knobbies for the race ...... him off to last place, forced him to pit to swap rubber then rejoin and ride recklessly in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to keep the roman emperor at bay in the championship.

2 of the next 3 races are tracks where Ducati will struggle , will Biaggi take advantage. Even though he took the lead in points thanks to a terrible tire choice from someone on the Ducati team, he didnt exactly pounce on the opportunity that was presented to him. Checa has tried to hand the title off to someone, but nobody seems to want to grab it. He has 2 non scoring races already, and only trails by one position on the track.

Curious as to why you think Checa is not to be held responsible for the tire choice.

Checa is someone on the Ducati team, i just have not seen where it was his decision alone to go with knobbies. For all i know, someone with a laptop and doppler advised the team that a down pour was imminent .

Yet no other Ducati rider chose full wets...?

Im assuming they all have different team managers. Its a team sport, and i doubt it was Checa, and Checa alone, who made the choice . They thought it was going to rain and it didnt. My guess it was a little more complicated than Checa licking his finger and sticking it in the air and saying, feels like rain, throw on some rain tires

Ultimately it is the rider's decision. Checa, with or without bad info, is responsible for the choice. For a buck-stops-here kinda guy you are being particularly obtuse. Every rider's team has access to extensive weather telemetrics but tire choices are at the rider's behest.

Like i said, its a team sport. If everyone said , Carlos no, we want to go with slicks and he overrode their wishes, then its on him. I have not seen where that is the case though. And until then, i will let the whole team share in the blame.

Lame. On what planet do you follow professional world level racing? Rider makes the decision, if anything, based on recommendations, but its still HIS DECISION to make. No team member is going to demand the rider go out on some tire choice when its the rider risking himself out there. Again, your take is ignorant. You already screwed up by trying to imply McCormick was slow not realizing Checa was a lap down regarding his stupid move, now you are trying to excuse him for his stupid decision. Why?

hahaha, I love it when you dig yourself into a hole, its very entertaining. You're running down several attempts hoping something will stick, each one more lame than the previous. First its a guy with a laptop who told him to run the rain tires, then you tell us Checa is just one member of a team, as if the guy with the same pit shirt sweeping the floors is equal in the decision making process, after all they're just teammates, now you throw up a hail mary about team managers, hahaha. The only person sticking their finger anywhere is you thumb up your ... with these attempts at shitting an explanation. Who the hell is going to tell the rider to go out on tires the rider is not choosing for himself? He's the one that has to ride the bike.
