Well to be fair, why did he on purpose let superglue pass while he had a clear lead? He knows he is a hard charger so why get into a fight with him?

Such a shame for van der Mark, rode himself of track and set the fastest lap right after that in 22nd.

Because the Kawasaki was murdering the R6 down the Hangar Straight. Despite this, Lowes had the speed to tuck in behind him and make a move on the last lap confident in the knowledge that he had the better of Sofuoglu from Abbey to the finish line. Going into the twistier section of Farm, Village and The Loop he knew he could probably hold him off down Wellington and defensively into Luffield getting the drive around Woodcote to win..which is what would have happened. Lowes has the edge on Sofuoglu mentally and as a rider. Sofuoglu knows this.

About halfway through it looked like Sam had a technical problem when he sat up and let Sof past while having probably a 1/1,5 second lead,1 lap later it looked like Kenan had a problem with his tear-off and let him back past. Thats the moment i was talking about.

Second part is exactly why he should've tried to pull away.

Still, if Sam keeps his cool he should have little problem pulling in the title.

Lowes was using some pretty unconventional lines  to block pass Superglue. I saw nothing wrong with the pass Superglue made in return. Lowes made his own bed. As far as Sykes, im  starting to think he doesnt have the mental make up to be champion. The competition keeps giving him the title, and he keeps throwing it back at them. He admitted that he didnt want to take  any risks today with the conditions. Hey Tom, if you have the speed to win, you need to grab every point possible. You gave up points on purpose being careful, while your much slower teammate won the race. Let me tell you this story about a guy who lost a championship by one half of a point. If you have a healthy lead in the championship, sometimes you can think about letting a few points slip away, but not when you are behind. You would think after last year, he would realize how precious every point is. He may still win the title that no one wants, but the kid doesnt seem to be able to handle prosperity.

My take on SuperGlue and Lowes may piss some folks off, but I think Lowes left a little too much on the inside and SuperGlue took advantage.  Lowes didn't have the correct angle to protect the inside and it also appeared he may have bobbled or the gear change made him late getting the bike tipped in. I wish I could have seen another angle of the incident.

I wanted to see Lowes win that one but at least he was able to recover and still finish 2nd.

All this from one race ? haha i guess you forget the previous races!

No, Sykes has been having brain farts all year. ! step forward, 2 steps back. Falls behind in points, rides his ass off to catch up, then promptly has a brain fart to fall back again. His one rival ..... up his shoulder and you think finally, Sykes can put some distance on his rival while he is hurt. Nope, he looses points. Like i said, the title has been handed to him by the competition, he has the bike, he just cant seem to focus . He should have a healthy lead, but shoots himself in the foot as often as he wins.

So it was his fault his bike went pop in Russia?

Like thats the only bad finish he has this year. He has as many DNF's as wins, but those dont bother me as  much as this weekends  11th and 7th place finishes where he admits to playing it cautious and thinking about the championship. I almost hope it bites him in the ass so he can learn a valuable lesson.

pov, i understand what you're trying to say (and i actually agree that sykes doesn't really grab every point like he probably could do) , but keep in mind the circumstances in which he lost the 2012 wc and points in general.

my sbk knowledge may not be bullet proof, but i can remember multiple races where his bike went pop or where he was taken out.

good point about the championship that nobody wants to win though, last year was almost embarassing

I just read where the India round has been canceled, and the first thing that popped into my head was Sykes. Still can be done, but now he has one less round [2 less races] to make up a deficit that by his own admission, was because he played it safe and was thinking about the championship. He is a lucky boy that his only competition is Guintoli, someone i never considered championship caliber.

I agree with Pov. The competitors and bikes are all quite equally matched so you'd like to see them push one another to a new level of excellence. Unfortunately, they are just fumbling the momentum back and forth amongst themselves.

Guintoli took the lead in the first race, and he's been riding like an accountant ever since. No one can mount a charge without losing focus.

Exactly, and Sykes did the same thing last race. Like i said, its the championship no one wants. It really goes to show how average the riders  really are in that series at the moment. They are consistently inconsistent.
