3 wins in 185 starts and 10 full seasons on factory bikes is a pretty poor record so, no, he's not going to be winning again. I doubt he'd have the chops to run anywhere near the front in WSBK either.

Disagree, not only do i think he would run up front, i think he wins the title. The guy who is dominating WSBK couldnt hold Ben Spies jock strap in WSBK on the same bike. The talent level in WSBK is as weak as its ever been.

Well one thing is certain...Nicky won't win another race in his career as long as he stays in MotoGp....

And once he retires (or goes to WSBK) there isn't likely to be any Americans in GPs for a while....

So who is the next great American GP hope?...

there is no hope. US racing is dead (as bespoken in the AMA thread) , and there are no 'mericans playing a significant role in any of the important feeder series - Moto3, Moto2, WSBK, CEV (!).

There is actually some really good young talent in AMA right now. Cameron Beaubier should be on any teams list for a Moto 2 ride. He is the real deal. Jake Lewis, Garret Gerloff, JD Beach are more riders who are rotting away their careers in AMA. I believe the AMA purposely keeps them out of the spotlight so they wont lose them. Instead, they do what BSB does, recycle old wore out riders who can bring money to the table, instead of nurturing the young talent. And people wonder why the Spanish have taken over the sport

Jum mentioned Beaubier before. don't know too much about the kid besides he won the rookies cup some years ago, which doesn't seem to matter today. he should go racing in CEV Moto2 or Moto3, because this is where most teams' radars are aimed at. if he can prove himseld there it would be worth much more than shining in AMA.

I don't know too many Yanks who care if there's an American in GP. I don't care if there's ever any Americans provided there's something else compelling going on in the series. Interestingly, Stoner wrote about that in his book. I don't think American GP fans are particularly nationalistic about the series.

I do not watch the AMA or any other American road racing so I have no idea who's in, who's good or if anyone is on the move. I'm just not interested in the sport in this country.

That's a shame Levi.
I was going to say that you should go to an AMA race and maybe you would have a different opinion but then I remembered that. you have been to Daytona.
It's such a low-key atmosphere. the riders walk around amongst the fans and practically nowhere is off limits. As much as I agree that there's a lot of crap about American racing ,when I'm at a race I thoroughly enjoy myself.
Americans aren't overly nationalistic about GP but you know that would change if Marquez was an American. We love our winners. Just ask Povol.
While GP interest may not suffer from lack of competitive Americans WSBK does not share that luxury.
Tv's, in the good ol USA are not turning on to watch the British old chaps cricket club.
I personally havnt watch BWSBK since Spies left

Beaubier has tried his hand in 125s and CEV and was crap in both of them.

I was going to post pretty much the same thing....

So who is the next great American rider destined for GPs to challenge for the title since we know it isnt Beaubier?

That means nothing when you are 16 years old

JD Beach won the Red Bull Cup and look where it got him.A whole lot of development goes on between the ages of 16-21.

Because? Curious as he seems a quiet young man who rides that WSBK Honda to placingd it shouldn't get. Also can't remember any particular crash controversy regarding Rea, unlike other WSBK riders ;)

Rea has been involved in several reasonably high profile crashes. He's also managed to crash himself out of several winning rides because of his buffoonery.

His one of his better moments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9GsKmauGcA. There are plenty of them in his history. He's .... and Wilski knows it!!
