Will Jorge Lorenzo defend his MotoGP championship title this season?

Lorenzo got everything going for him and is as good a rider as you can imagine sooo....who would bet against him?
His mate vale will keep doing his best to distract the opposition.
I only realistically see dani challenging him but theres a lot of ifs involved with dani.
I do wish pedrosa wins this. The decade old puig bs aside, the guys as good as anyone when fit and a class act.

of course he will he is a racer
i may not like him but he does race for food
so the poll is meaningless

when he is at his best he is difficult to beat, but I have said no he will not retain his tittle because he can be fragile, a few small hiccups to his flow can put him off his rhythm for a few races. if there is no hiccups during his season he probably will keep his title.

IF Lorenzo really goes to Duc, he'll get the same level of support as before simply because he has the most potential for winning races. Personalities aside - Yamaha is pragmatic enough not to throw away the millions invested in Lornenzo's pursuit of the championship

He's that fragile he kept going after setback after setback and when luck seemed against him. How many times did he dominate practice and qualifying only for the weather to change? Even in Japan when it rained, he opened a huge lead on wets only for the weather to dry up and destroy his tyres because he'd gone so hard in the wet to pull away?
If anyone is fragile, it's Rossi, for one he had his infamous meltdown in Sepang.
This was partially bought on by the rate Lorenzo was catching him, and partially because the last race was at Jerez. Rossi's got quite a thing about Jerez hasn't he? He choked spectacularly there against Nicky Hayden, handing him the title as he succumbed to the pressure and fell.
Rossi has never won a MotoGP title at the very last round, it could well be that plays on his mind and he never will...

Are you kidding Kesh? Lorenzo won't get any new technology or upgrades that he could possibly take information to a rival team about. Rossi and Jarvis are thick as thieves and will ensure that Lorenzo stagnates if he signs elsewhere, it'll be in Rossi's plan all along to leave him an open shot at the title.
Watch the endings of some of last year's races, when Rossi wins Jarvis is beaming and he most often stands with Rossi's crew too.
When Lorenzo wins its a very forced, almost wry smile.
It was clear last season who ultimately Jarvis would set up camp with.

Clearly you and I are theorizing as there's no way to prove our points. I think you are reading too much into what can be read into Lorenzo's facial expression. I reckon he's always looked that way when things were less than optimal - even when Rossi was not on the team. The guy is clearly very tightly wound and works very hard (to no success) to hide his feelings when disappointed.

Whether or not he gets the best stuff - only time will tell. If he indeed goes to Ducati and gets screwed by Yamaha I think he'll be vocal about it and we'll know.

Re: taking technology with him.... It's not like he's a rocket scientist. The mere existence of new technologies are impossible to keep secret for any length of time. Not as if there are unguarded laptops lying about the garage that he's going to abscond with. Really - what can he actually take with him?

Surely these top guys on factory teams have something written into their contract saying that they keep getting new parts until the end of their season.

He's talking aboot Jervis' facial expression I think.

JL's has been permanently set to "wry" since he joined yamaka.

My bad. That's what happens when I pick up the phone first thing before getting out of bed.
I never really pay much attention to Jarvis's face.

No.

I think this year is the right time for Rossi, he is fast enough and still hungry.

What did you see in the first three races that would indicate that?
Perhaps you saw something that everyone else missed.

I see an 9 times motogp world champion, who can ride to the championship ;)

That is my personal opinion and I hope that he can do it and show the young guys, how to do it.

Sorry, for my bad englisch, but i try my best..

Lorenzo is bound to take certain members of his team, it usually done anyway. They are the ones working on the bike who get access to the technology. Lorenzo himself can recommend using certain technology if he feels it works for him. Either way if it's given to them they are aware of its existence, if kept secret from them they're not.
Yes, I was talking about Jarvis and his expressions, he didn't look happy even when Lorenzo took the title for his team.
The only time I've seen him smiling when Lorenzo won was this year in Qatar. Maybe that's because he was hoping to get Lorenzo signed too. Who knows?
I feel he wants Rossi for the commercial aspects and Lorenzo for his ability to win titles.

His expression at sepang was priceless... Definitely worth another look.

True enough. But remember, Rossi took Burgess with him and a lot of good it did him. I suspect the two bikes are sufficiently dissimilar that very little of Yamaha's technology would be useful to Ducati.

I'll say it again... if Lorenzo is jerking everyone around and stays at Yamaha - I will laugh my ... off. If his main impetus for going is to be away from Rossi and he does poorly on the Duc.... it'll be a great loss to racing. Maybe he feels his chances of every winning a championship while MM is around are unlikely and he might as well take the money and run.
