Hmm...it's certainly been said before. Nicky might get along with the Ducati as he has a dirt tracking background similar to Stoner's, and that the Duc needs some serious rear brake to make it through the turns.

Also Ducati have been wanting to sell more bikes in the U.S.

Phil Baker's quotes in this article sound to me like Nicky has told him he'd like to stay with Repsol, but if the prospects aren't attractive enoug he;d be willing to go to another squad. Not surprising considering Nicky's strong Honda loyalties.

I think where Nicky is gonna end up for 2009 is gonna be one of this big stories getting tossed about in the next few months.

The Ducati rumor won't go away, and this article really brings it to reality. I think Nick should sit down with HRC, get all the bosses lined up and tell them "Fck off you ashles!" and stick it to them every chance he gets while he's still racing.

Sadly, I'm not sure Nick will get along with the Duc, but hey I would love to be wrong about that. Don't think Yamaha will want Nick since he turned them down when coming into MotoGP, and I really don't see any other team providing him with a bike to challenge for another championship...again, I want to be wrong about this.

I feel really sorry for Dovi next year if he goes to HRC...dunno maybe they will take care of him though?

Oh Dovi won't be misstreated, not the first couple of years though. What happens after that is all down to himself and his performance.

there's are 2 saying's i think nicky should take on board because i think they apply to him " familiarity breads contempt " and " a change is as good as a rest ". same for all riders really, look at rossi and stoner, worked for them.

I think it might be a good move for him...

If it doesn't work out for him @ Ducati, what has he lost?
It didn't work for Loris or Marco or Elias and Guintolli either, so he wont be under too much public expectations. But if he does get a handle on the Duc, then his stocks will rise significantly.
I hope he bites the bullet and goes for it. It's unfortunate for Marco but judging by his test and comments on the new carbon fibre frame GP9, he would again be struggling down the back of the grid next season. Better to cut his losses and aim for his Gresini Honda seat back.

Colin to shun Ducati SBK offer.

I found this piece particularly interesting.

Edwards also denied he had been in negotiations with Ducati, with regard to a factory ride in MotoGP.

"I think Nicky (Hayden) is pretty much done isn't he? he said. Outside of the factory team my interest definitely dips. But in the chat about WSB never once has the MotoGP thing come up. I've had no sit down talks with Ducati. I wish I could tell you more but I don't know anymore."

Silly Season in full tilt.

Is Colin inferring that the Ducati Nicky deal is done or that Nicky is done as a rider?
...... Colin. I never understand him. Always speaks his own version of English.
Must be a Texas dialect because Mylexicon often leaves me feeling just as confused

I think Nicky will never get on with the 800's. He needs torque and he should go to WSBK. Sorry Nicky but the series has evolved away and isn't coming back anytime soon.

Nicky is no Rossi...So a sudden shift to a new bike, tyres and team won't fix Nicky's current fortunes....you never know, maybe Ducati are talking to NIcky about taking Bayliss' seat next year.

"...a sudden shift to a new bike, tyres and team won't fix _____'s current fortunes..."

Isn't this exactly what Stoner did?

Why wouldn't it work for Hayden? Not saying it will, but Casey's riding around with the #1 plate in his very first year after doing just that.

And it has been disastorous for Marco...

Both Migs and Parc make good points, it could work but it could be very bad. I believe I read where Marco isn't happy because there are too many electronic nannies on the bike, and they have to be turned on to make good progress while racing. If this is true, Nicky will not like the Duc and will be relegated back to where Marco is now. Nick needs to grab Marco after a race and sit down for a beer and discuss the bike, get it straight from Marco what he could be getting into....as I'm sure this won't happen it's what I would want to do.

Nick on the Duc in WSBK, now that would be interesting. Will Nick consider it? IMO probably not because he thinks it's a step down from the mini-GP series.

It is not a Texas dialect issue. I live in houston and I have no idea what he is implying either.

I think it would be the end of him if it didn't work out... not many riders get one factory ride, never mind two.

But i really do think he could ride the Ducati alot better than Melandri.... he could get regular top 10s but isn't that what hes already doing just with alot more pressure on him.

Hi there all I would like to say Hi since I am new here. I know curve pretty well so don't hold that against me please. I am a Ducatisti through and through so you will always know who I want on the podium regardless of who is the rider. Since this is about Nicky my hope is that He would come over to the Duc side ha ha, and be a real contender again. I also hope that if he does he has the chance to stop the livin crap out of that little girl dani and her butt buddy puig. Go hayden!! But more importantly GO DUCATI!!!! Shut up curve.
