I was there in November and it was cold but I had the Dragon all to myself. There were 3 other motorcycles the day I rode the dragon: a couple of Supermotos, and a big Sport Tourer/ 2 up. I trailered my bike up there from FloridaThe Gap was our personal playground for years, then the internet ruined it. We still ride it a couple times a week, but you either have to get there at sun up and get a few passes in before the cops show up and the Harley procession starts, or after 6pm when they go home. Probably make a run through tonight. There are tons of great roads in the region that get a lot less publicity than the Dragon and thats just fine with us.
Awesome pickup! He did that kind of a ride on an Iron 883? Holy god, props to him on that since that thing was built for bar-hopping more than anything. Tell him that if he decides to stroke it out to a 1200cc engine, it'll actually be cheaper in the long run than it would have been had he bought a 1200cc Sporty. I can definitely see the perspective shift those experiences give.

It is a 1200, thats the Roadster he just sent me pics last night of the new V&H pipes and air filter with Screaming Eagle tuner kit.
Edited
I know very little about Harley and after further review, this is the bike he got.
After looking at the first pic i posted, i see it doesnt have dual front disc. This is not his bike, just one i plucked off Google images. His has the blacked out pipes now
I found the handling surprising , it's not a sport bike by any means, but I could have some fun in the twisties. It comes with a set of sport type tires and sitting position that is closer to sportbike than cruiser. I changed his oil and tranny fluid before he went back and while it's easy, it's very rudimentary. Rubber drain hose with plastic plug and hose clamp is 1950's and having to remove the side plate to add tranny fluid is just ....... stupid. The risk of wallowing out those soft hex screws, dropping spring into the case, and messing up O ring just to add fluid is a head scratcher. Looks cool and I'd say the girls like it, so it's a win winThe Roadster is a good pickup...I really like the inverted forks on it along with the dual disc fronts. The only weakness with the bike IMO is they went with the damn 2 gallon tank. I know it in theory fits in better looks-wise, but having to stop far more frequently for gas is not fun. How did you find the handling on it personally? I have been meaning to swing by the dealer to test ride one out of curiosity,
I just purchased another bike to add to the collection. With the price of all the Japanese super bikes now getting close to the $25k mark with onroad costs the reduced price of the 2016 H2 became more and more appealing. Its the first brand new bike i have ever purchased and I liked the fact that when searching for second hand models in Australia I couldn't find any available at all so i dare say it will hold its value a little better than the conventional models.
The bike came with free Akrapovic slip on to replace the standard pipe (that looks big enough to produce its own gravity). Ive installed a tail tidy, radiator guard and tank pad. In stock form they produce about 205whp at the tyre, at the first service it gets an unpgraged quick shift load cell sensor to allow the autoblip down shifting, a DNA air filter, titanium link pipe and Woolich ECU flash which takes the power up to about 265whp. Ive organised to have a before and after dyno pulls done on the bike at the first service to see the increase for myself.
Its a proper beast of a bike and rides like nothing else I have ever ridden, all the suspension, brakes, clutch and gearbox are top of the line no expense spared type units. Apparently the dogring style gearbox on the bike is lifted straight out of the 2010 Kawasaki MotoGP bike. Its strong and snappy with its shifting but does require a GPS to try and find neutral which is bit of a bitch when parking it. The H2 tech Marty was telling me that he caught up with Stoners dad Colin and was telling him about the performance he was getting out of the H2's. Colin was baffled as to how the hell you could use so much power on the road, he explained that Casey's Ducati had 260hp and even at the Phillip Island track he was only able to hold it wide open at full throttle for about 6 seconds a lap.
I'm pretty stoked about the bike as you can tell, Cyclone Debbie has brought bucketloads of rain to Brisbane and its not the sort of bike want to ride in the pouring rain. I'll post some more pics and info after I get the first service done for anyone interested.

It is light and Powerful & agree very expensive. I rode it for a 5 mile loop on some fairly twisty roads and was overall impressed with the S1000RR. I enjoyed the ride but still prefer my VFRWe sell BMW's also, what did you think. That is one bad ass 1000, but they are all bad.We also sell Yamaha, and even though the R1/m1 is the slowest of the trio we carry, it's the most advanced by far. We just got in a Zx10R Winter Test edition and it has some nice upgrades over the production model but the Japs just do not understand other cultures whstsoever. Matte Black or winter test black, with ....... snow flake stickers . It's gay as hell looking and I don't know anyone who would pay16 k for it without pulling that .... off. They have strange taste unlike the Italians who seem to come up with combinations that bike fans drool over.
