What do you ride ?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (RallyeRon @ Jul 19 2005, 11:00 AM)<div class='quotemain'>As for the road situation, your guna have to do more convincing than that, we've got roads all over the place like that! Even our motorways(highways) have some pretty fast curves. In all fairness tho, your surfaces seem a lot better than ours!

If that was in responce to the deals gap thing i posted, i envy you. people come from all of the country and world to ride it. It is considered one of the WORLDs best roads to ride.

"The Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, with 318 curves in 11 miles, is America ’s number one motorcycle and sports car road. The nearby Cherohala Skyway is quickly becoming number two with its remote 60 miles of scenic mountain highway."

Pick your number one road that is FAR better than any other in your entire country, and there you have your equivelent to our deals gap. it's not some ordinary road.

You should check out the website and browse through some photo's and watch some vid's. you might change your mind about having these roads all over the place there.

Heck maybe you do and im just that deprived lol - i've never been outside the USA except to canada, and even then thats like our 51st state anyhow

Just picture 318 turns, not little kinks, complete turns, many 180 degrees, in 17 kilometers. thats a TON. picture not keeping your bike straight up and down one time fo more than about 3 seconds the entire road!

(thanks to www.killboy.com - the official deals gap photographer for this tastey image...)

General is the on or anywhere near Highway 1 in California? I drove that in 2003 after the WSB races and wow, what a drive.

highway one owns too! killer roads!

We went to San Fransisco after the GP race and to Muir Woods just north of the Golden Gate Bridge... there ware awesome twisties but no warnings for sharp curves and there were honestly 2-300 foot cliffs off the edge with no gaurd rails there.... no thanks!

WOW, what a road. and what a surface..

Speed limits? over here in the UK its 60mph general limit on open roads like that, then if its slightly built up or is a bit tight then its 50, 40 or 30 in towns and villages.
Motorway is 70mph- you can be let off for doing 85 on a motorway if you look like your keeping your distance and look safe.

Gatso's(stationary speed cameras) are popping up all over here tho. their a ......

There aren't any cameras for that around here... yet. trafiic cams all over but none for traffic law enforcement.

the highway (motorway as you wouls call it there) is 65 for the mostpart. All other secondary roads are 55Mph or less, depending mainly on how commercial or residential the area is.

I'd love to head across the pond to your neck of the woods some day and rent a bike and just riiiiide

I've looked up your bike, I must admit, it realy looks very good!it's certainly not the type of bike that I meant and a BMW like I knew them...I meant the type of bikes with backsupport, suitcases and 'chairs' on it

Those are the K1200R bikes that have replaced the Boxer Cup series. Much quicker, handle brilliantly and the 'unfaired' version of the K1200S. The race bikes have smaller exhausts which give around an extra 10 BHP and a quick gear shift system fitted. Beyond that they are pretty much factory standard bikes and they go very well.

I have wanted to go and test ride the new BMW's. unfortunately there are no dealers near me so it will have to be a roadtrip on some Saturday afternoon. I would like to get a feel for what that telelever front end is all about.
