What are the Chances?

Looks promising, Ron, 1.7 seconds is a huge leap in 24 hours but it depends on what tyre he was on and if he could maintain it for race distance. A 1.7 sec drop in time over say the last 8 laps and he'd be screwed. More Hondas at the front though, interesting as long as you're not on a yellow yamaha.

I'm skeptical of any improvement over race pace but you never know. Look what happened to Melandri after his "breakthrough" during Monday testing at Qatar.

He just needs to 'click' with the michelins. I hope he does, he's a hard racer on his day and a real fun guy to watch.

You can`t really look into laptimes that much, it never works out and only really gets your hopes up so you can be dissapointed (note Nakano & Honda`s respective performances in the preseason) Anything could have happened, Tamada might have just got lucky for a lap or two. Then again, maybe it is a sign of improvement. Its too hard to tell. 45 minutes is a long time at 300 kmph, anything can happen in the race. I`ll belive Tamada`s back in business after a string of strong performances, because even if he does manage a podium in Shanghai, it might be a one off, like OJ did at this very track last year

I think today was Makoto's best race so far. Maybe he is finally getting the confidence back.

Did you see him sticking it up the inside of sete though!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was tough!!!!!!!!

Don't do it yet. This was just one race. If he can avoid being the last Honda in the next few rounds then it will be time to enjoy your yummy crow meal.

That's one hell of a risky bet. But if you get it right you will go up in the points rankings like a rocket.

Everything about Tamada has been slow since the end of 2004
