What About Hayden?

I think I've heard enough stories, news, comments, etc, about Rossi and Pedrosa until all seems to have forgotten about Nicky Hayden, the current reigning top champ position with 35 points ahead of Rossi. What about his skills? If Hayden maintains his consistency, Rossi will have a very hard time catching up with the points, and thus Hayden will have higher chances of becoming the world champion. A penny for your thoughts.

P/s : No harsh comments/remarks please.

Hayden is just always a step under in a way ...
he has all the talent and a wise head on his shoulders, but when sat next to the likes of rossi, he's not considered as 'spectacular' as him...

its his consistency that has kept him up top all this season, but the winner of the championship will have both consistency and the conversion of that into race wins/ high podium positions

draw no attention to it and nothing will come of it

Let's consider this.

Every season bar this one, Rossi is consistent. He had what? 1.. 2? DNF's last year. Normally, he's the consistent one. This year he's doing what most riders normally do, and Hayden's the consistent one. He's finished every race, only off the podium once or twice. Ok, so he's only won one race comapared to Melandri's 2, Pedrosa's 2, Rossi's 3, but he's consistent, and always there right behind them.

He deserves a lot of credit for this.

I think hayden's more of a 'silent killer'. He may not draw attention to himself but with his consistency, his actions talks more...

^Deffo.

He's always there for a battle too, he rarely falls and is always up there.

Bar Donnington, he seems to suck there...

I read somewhere that he had problem with the new chasiss.. He ran intot he gravel but at least he didn't lose control but Edwards seemed intent into not letting him taking over..prob still sore over Assien.

HRC gave him a new chassis and it didn't agree with Donny or Nicky. I haven't heard whether or not he will continue testing it or go back to what he was using before. Needless to say as a Hayden fan, I'm not pleased with HRC at the moment. I believe that when you're a championship contender, you don't test major components to a bike, such as an entire chassis, on a race weekend. That sort of development should be saved for a Monday test. I'm sure Colin wanted to stay in front of Nicky for personal reasons but I'm equally sure Yamaha want Nicky as many places behind Rossi as possible, Edwards was doing his job.

Well, that is exactly what Rossi did in LeMans, but he really needed it.
I agree that it sounds weird, even by Hayden's contract terms (evo). Who knows what is going on under the surface. HRC current situation is both a dream and a headache. How to avoid both riders cannibalising points from each other?

They can't without issuing team orders and when your riders are 1-2, I don't think you can implement team orders. Not logically, anyways.

I really can't see Hayden being overtaken, realistically, untill at least Estoril, maybe Brno or Losaill.. but I doubt it.

Hi new to the forum. yeah i agree w/ u ooost. hopefully edwards keeps up the kind of job he was doing at Assen and keeps the points comin to The Kid.

You might want to make a thread and introduce yourself

Edwards will get better as the season goes on, he's strong at America and Losail, but he won't be top 5 this year due to the stars such as Rossi, Hayden, Pedrosa, melandri, maybe even Stoner...

Losail was the second round of the season. They moved it to the start of the season to try and race under cooler temperatures in April rather than later in the year.

yup thanks checa 7. thanks for the colin edwards101 course. i was just rootin for hayden, hes a smooth rider and darn consistent; which i do i agree with u he does deserve alot of credit for this, any rider should. on my first post i was just concurring w/ ooost's post that edwards was doing his job. and subtly implicating that if edwards was really helping out rossi and yamaha, he woulve been a bit more cautious on that last turn @ donnington and that wouldve really helped out both his teammate and yamaha, but hey we all know his tires were shot and and he went in too hot and couldnt help out his teammate for the championship. but hey thats racing and thats why we love this grid this year, everyone is tight knit and has us on the edge of our seats. thanks.

the main thing with nicky now is if he cant catch them he settles his rythem and rides safe without trying to keep up and fall off, for me hes still learning as he cant keep rossi from overtaking him when rossi is on is tail as its a bit easy for vale but finishing the race is the main aim,
its like nicky is uncrashable at present so 4 me its thumbs up to him as hes slowly but surely he gunna get to where he wants to be..

agreed. im impressed by the fact that he has just been getting consistently better along with setting up the machine and he keeps his eye on the prize or the Big Picture and not throwing away good laps for a better end result. its gotten him this far and if he wins the championship imho he deserves it. i am a bit biased though.

i mean of course rossi is awesome, but i think it'd be pretty cool to see Trick catch the dream, especially with all this momentum he has earned.

bluenitro.

Welcome.

And of course he is on the evo machine which will stand him at a better advantage for next season.

However do not write off Rossi or his teamate Dani who Just seems to be getting better as things heat up.

yeah man, im lovin it. just a lil biased. he's just been real smooth and lately we have been able to count on nick to be on the box.

hey Ooost whats the deal with HRC? ... at the start of the season i was under the impression that they had a definate order ... 1-2 Hayden- Pedrosa .... but now it doesn't seem like that at all ... is there a pecking order now?
