Ok let me clarify my statement. When I meant "outside the performance envelope", I meant the bike simply could not do what the rider wanted, due to that action being physically impossible. Hence entering a turn way to fast, on cold tires, there by eliminating any and all possibility of the bike being able to slow enough to take the turn.
Now riding a GP bike to it's full potential is completely different, like everyone else, I expect the riders to be "pushing" their bike to that limit. Heres where the difference lies. There's riding on the cutting edge of performance. And then there's riding way past that point. World Championship riders should know where that limit is and ride up to that cutting edge, and no more. Flying past that limit, WOT, leathers on fire, with your eyes closed, is a completely different matter...
Ok food for thought, say DeAngelis had started higher up on the grid, and pulled that stunt at the start of the race and crashed into VR instead. Val gets a DNF, or worse gets hurt and can't finish the 09 championship. By default, Jorge takes over and wins the rest of the season... The howls of anger would be heard around the world, and I guarantee that an "Unsafe Riding" rule would go into effect by DORNA...
