Video of VR kicking rider in 125cc 1997

Well clearly the video doesn't show a kick but rather His foot just slipped off the peg. His intent is debatable, just because he looked over a few times and points to the guy doesn't mean anything. Maybe he was waving hello. Hi buddy, good to see you on the track today.

"We have to catch the Inter game on the TV after practice...if you don't get off the bike I will kick you off of it."

I thought that was the best livery in the lower classes that's all. The 96 125 was an abortion and the 97 bike had that awful silver fairing. I really liked the predominantly black paint job when he moved up to 250.

Can't for the life of me suss out the circuit though. It thought it could be Imola but I'm sure he had the tricolore one off for that. Then I thought Le Mans, but I think they still went to Ricard then. Could be old Assen, could even be Suzuka?

I was thinking Assen myself but I'm unsure, that last shot when he rides off down the track I thought would tell, but it's hard to pick up any identifying information.

Definitely not Imola, and doesn't look like Suzuka either.

....... hell - I'd completely forgotten about that. The football kit leathers. When it comes to kitsch tack, Vale is the undisputed king - but it'll take a brave and audacious breed of bopper to seriously defend that. Was that Assen?

What year was the Mugello Drudi monstrosity helmet that looked like he'd puked all over it?

I think it was Assen. I remember it was during the world cup.

He's had a few that look like Caseys candy fill spew. Technicolor puck fests. My personal favorite was the open mouth one that looked like he was puking. I chuckled every time he came flying down the straights with it on.

To be fair JPS - there are so many examples of this during qualifying and even races. I remember Hopper fined for landing one on another rider at Laguna one year. Aaron Slight's Eric Cantona meltdown was my favourite though.

Preferred the Aaron Yates Eric effort myself :D

Interesting video.

What's good about this video is that it establishes his character early on in his career, much in opposition to the claims of Oxley and others.

Maybe Journo can tell us about how there was a giant spider on the side of the other rider's bike and VR just wanted to kill it.

to be fair JP, he was young and just as we always say of others 'he was young and has not matured', this is showing a yet to mature VR back in a day when he was chastised in the media for his actions (not as chastised as anyone against him today however)

To me, I actually find the hand waving a bigger similarity and funnier to see given the amount of aggravations others with similar attitudes have attracted over time

Yes, I remember that well. Actually the other rider had a clogged fuel line and Rossi was helping him out by forcing the air out. Notice how the other rider waves a big thank you after Rossi passes by.

The still image is 65, but the video kick is 25.

Either way compa, that's a major indictment on Rossi and Race Direction. Why are we just watching this now uncovered by a fan? That should have been cited by a journalist as behavior that Rossi has done in the past. I don't think this should be glossed over.

Oh no....

I don't know what the still is trying to prove, clearly VR is behind Loris. Pity, it would have been ironic if he had kicked the guy who is currently the safety advisor.

This just has to do with putting some information out there that fellow posters will find interesting.

This isn't going to get mentioned on any news sites.

funny you clucking on about this.... how many times has your lover kangaroo teeth lost his head and used violence on track ?

Probably less times than you've spent in the dentist office trying to get those teeth of yours fixed.

I'm afrad this thread will just bring out the Rossi fans posting the ample video evidence of MM's ultra ....... behaviour in the lower classes. Really, neither tack proves ....-all.

I strongly disapprove of Valentino's recent off track behaviour, but no doubt at all MM historically has been reckless and dangerous not infrequently, as opposed to Rossi who has quite possibly the best safety record in go bike racing history.

In the last 3 races this year ironically I don't think MM made anything other than very acceptable legal racing moves though.

It's more about establishing a baseline for VR's behavior.

MM we already know has done numerous things, and this topic isn't to talk about MM's shortcomings.
