Interesting video.

What's good about this video is that it establishes his character early on in his career, much in opposition to the claims of Oxley and others.

Maybe Journo can tell us about how there was a giant spider on the side of the other rider's bike and VR just wanted to kill it.

This just has to do with putting some information out there that fellow posters will find interesting.

This isn't going to get mentioned on any news sites.

To be fair JPS - there are so many examples of this during qualifying and even races. I remember Hopper fined for landing one on another rider at Laguna one year. Aaron Slight's Eric Cantona meltdown was my favourite though.

Holy ....! I've never seen that.

Talpa, start a threat titled: Track VIOLENCE!

Notice how hard he kicked and there was no crash like one with Marquez .

Either way , no need to beat a dead horse - dangerous move and should not be tolerated .

The end

Ha ha. Now I don't doubt he'd have said that. But holy crap! I never saw that footage either. Glad you posted it. Now it all makes sense: He knew from previous experience kicking a rider wouldn't bring him down. So this time he went for the brake lever:D. I knew that kind of behaviour wasn't the first time, but now you confirmed it. The good news is everybody knows what he's capable of now.

That's Loris
The still image is 65, but the video kick is 25.

Either way compa, that's a major indictment on Rossi and Race Direction. Why are we just watching this now uncovered by a fan? That should have been cited by a journalist as behavior that Rossi has done in the past. I don't think this should be glossed over.

Sure I don't doubt other guys have done similar things, but given all of the protestations about VR being clean(ish) this really puts a new twist on everything that went on the past month.

I'd love to know what the circumstances here were and if race direction even handed out any sort of penalty.

That's Loris on the still but a No.25 rider in the footage.

I'm confused.

Not sure where the still came from.

But the actual video is what we need to focus on.

There's a hefty kick from VR.

It's from 1997 and it's 125cc, not 250cc. Anyone know what circuit that is?

No that's 1998 - his first 250 season

Still confused though.

Frankly Arrabi I was hoping you'd shed light on this. I've watched every single race since the early 80s, (mainly 500/GP) but I've never heard or seen this. Its fascinating. I watched the video, clearly they identify the kicking rider as Valentino Rossi, with a picture no less. Why hasn't this been part of the Rossi Historical Chronicle Experience?

Oh whoops.

Well clearly the video doesn't show a kick but rather His foot just slipped off the peg. His intent is debatable, just because he looked over a few times and points to the guy doesn't mean anything. Maybe he was waving hello. Hi buddy, good to see you on the track today.

Oh whoops.

I thought that was the best livery in the lower classes that's all. The 96 125 was an abortion and the 97 bike had that awful silver fairing. I really liked the predominantly black paint job when he moved up to 250.

Can't for the life of me suss out the circuit though. It thought it could be Imola but I'm sure he had the tricolore one off for that. Then I thought Le Mans, but I think they still went to Ricard then. Could be old Assen, could even be Suzuka?
