I was waiting for someone to ask/pick me up on the disclaimer.............
I like Racing.............like the Laguna battle between those two.
I didn't like it 'cause Rossi won, and I was dissapointed when Stoner stuffed up and went into the gravel.
I loved sitting on the edge of my seat and watching a fantastic battle.
Truth be known.....I like watching the new blokes.
Can't wait to see how Spies and Crutchlow turn out.
All depends on the rides/chances they get...........but it's interesting to watch them develop and (hopefully) get better.
Lately, the battles for 3,4,5,6,7 ect are more interesting racing than what is happening at the front.
No disrespect to the riders at the front, but as I said............it's kinda like a 20 + lap version of Qualifying.......awesome skill.........but no paint swapping and last gasp outbraking ect.
........I hope that it changes.
PS......I like anyone who beats Lorenzo.

I havent been around long enough to understand all of that Barry but im an Aussie, and i wish there was a different aussie in stoners boots
(mainly Vermeulen, would love to have seen him on a quality bike)

Where do you call dirt bike heaven? I actually bought about 50 acres west of Gosford for the same reason .............
I didnt recognise the company so i googled.
Have fun washing your bike, its cold enough in Brisbane, id be avoiding water at all possible costs if i was in Tas.

Anywhere in Tassie............. you know on the Mainland, when you drive past a dirt track.......it either goes nowhere, has a big gate to block it off, or is full of dirtbike riding cops.

Let me tell you a story, the day I decided I'm never leaving here.
Washed the Ol' PIG ( KTM 520 ) and was idling it up the side of the road for a quick blat ( I'd changed the oil......you know how it goes) behind the local tip.
Idling. less than walking pace........got that sixth sense/bad feeling. Looked to my left, Damn !!!!!! local copper idling just next to me ( I was on the dirt strip on the right hand side of the road)
Stopped..........
COP. "Is that thing rego'd ??"
ME (I'd taken the lights ect off it.....it's for trail riding )....".not anymore"
COP " Have you got a license ?"
ME "yes"
COP " How old are you ?"
ME "37"
COP "Old enough to ....... know better then"
ME "yes"
COP " where are you going "
ME " Just up behind the tip for a quick spin......changed the oil"
Cop looks straight ahead, back at me.....straight ahead, back at me ......and says
COP " FOR ..... SAKE.....DON'T PISS ANYONE OFF"
...........and drove away.

quick blat (it's an edit of a days ride) back up a boring fire trail to the car at the end of a day. The hills are steeper, and the rocks and ruts bigger, than they look.

Charlesy is the bloke on the XR.......I have only been riding dirt bikes for around two years......and man is it diffrent to a road bike.
Everything a dirt bike does, is a road bike about to crash !
......taken me a while to get my head around that........... as well as, Road bike is, bike out, rider in, chin to inside elbow.
Dirt bike is , rider out, bike in, chin to outside elbow, foot to fork.
This is a concious thought at every corner...........so used to road bike am I , that I keep trying to "lean"into the corner !!
Love it though.........and I love learning something everytime I go out.

Thats not heaven ...... heaven is a place the cops are too lazy to go too apart from folk running their cars off the road into a gully ...... and even then you are doing them a favour by finding cars that have gone over.
we wait till 5pm and ride down to an old convict built pub ( don't reveal its location if you've figured it out
) ...... not a cop in sight, and you can stop and fish on the way! we've even tried it on go karts and quad bikes, though the kart didn't make it
........ and the neighbours are all pretty bike friendly. They even point out trail entrances through their property
Bikes have to have lights cos its also wombat heaven, oh and loose cattle.

Used to ride out to there ( road ride ) for a Sundy squirt.
It's one of the few places a road sign that says 25 kph, MEANS 25 KPH,...... when you're coming down the mountain from the ocean side of things that is..

Yeah a local has replaced one of the speed signs with 3 new signs:
SLOW
SLOWER
EVEN SLOWER
Not sure you have the same part of the road if you road biked it, you can but not many do
. Same road but the dirt section heading down a valley ......... dirt road for about 40km. Floods a lot ....... like ATM 1 metre over the road.

Foot went into a hole when I tried to catch it all.......under she went.
Amazed at how quick the ol' reflexes allowed me to get both hands punching the kill switch !!

Not real waterproof are they.
Best waterproof bike I remember was an early IT Yam. It would run for about 5 - 10 seconds before water ingress killed it, it sucked air thought the seat foam first and the airbox was fully sealed with a pretty trick water drain valve. You could actually cross a creek fully submerged for a few seconds. First time I found that out I actually stopped, clutch in thinking I'd drowned it but I could hear the exhaust bubbling away so I rode it out ..... amazing for wet stuff. They don't make them like that anymore. Especially Bergs and KmeEms.

In the shed I have my IT 490 (pieces......ripped the gudgeon clean out of the piston !!)
Have just inherited Dads IT 175 F ( near mint.....crank seals need doing due to sitting for so long)
And his IT 465.....pieces......he bought it a year or two ago as is....but now builds aircraft, and has no time for the other projects.
IT's.........how bullet proof are they !!.........and it's only the suspension and brakes that make them feel dated......the power is quite good, and very well spread on the 490.........
the berg is much the same,.....she didn't stop due to water.....I killed it via the switch ( shitting myself that I would hydraulic the new bike !!!)
around 10 litres came out the pipe !!!
....it has no one way valve on the air box though

Okay........good that they hobbled the Pulp mill.......I mean, if it wasn't going to spew .... into the water, then fine.......no-one had a problem, but Gunns don't want to concede( read as spend $$$to change the design).
One thing I figured out quickly upon moving here is,
1) every second person has a gun
2) Tasmanian Devils eat Carrion, bones and all.
Be nice, understand and tolerate someone else's opinion, play fair (but hard if it is required).......and all is well.
The ruts are from natural water erosion on a steep fire trail. Check out the drop-off's on the right.
