Actually I think this is huge news. Motorcycle sales in the U.S. had been growing steadily in the United States and the bigger it gets here the cooler stuff we are going to see.
I am worried that motorcycling will be ruined by our government and the people who ride on the coat tails of safety legislation, but I think it will have global impact as well.
In the States motorcycles are 1/3 the price of a decent car and they use 1/3 the gasoline and they offer 50x bang for buck. Booming sales in the U.S. should help spawn domestic sportsbike production in America. Not that we build great sportsbikes but most Americans are pretty patriotic and will help our smaller sportsbike builders utilize economies of scale.
Long and short is, sportsbike costs around the world should start to fall from new competition (assuming that a majority of the domestic price in a given market isn't tax, sadly for some of you it is)
