or ..........How the f... do I beat this guy??

One look at Rossi after the Qatar race would tell you that he is deeply worried about the season ahead.
The Yamaha is working a treat; it handles better than all the other bikes, loses nothing down the straight these days (only 1 kph down on Stoner)and is a great all-round package at all the circuits. Rossi has in his corner probably the most experienced and successful head mechanic in Jeremy Burgess , and Rossi is riding as well as he ever has............and yet this pesky kid can ride the unridable Ducati like an alien or unlike any adversary he has ever raced against in the past. Sure, Casey was beaten at Laguna Seca and probably succumbed to the pressure of chasing down points by crashing out at 2 subsequent races, but is this something Rossi can rely upon to occur again in 2009? It seems unlikely, as Stoner was playing catchup all season last year after a few dreadful early rounds, and this year the 09 Duc has already proved itself fast at last years bogey track. Add to this, the fact that the scaphoid injury that cost Stoner many points last season (and may have contributed to at least one of those crashes) seems fully healed , and Stoner is ulikely to feel the pressure of playing catchup from way behind. Even with bad early results, an engine failure, a demoralising defeat at Laguna seca , a few uncharacteristic crashes , and an almost perfect season for Rossi; there didn,t need to be many changes for the pressure to have been on Rossi instead, and a different world champion to be crowned.
Barring an unexpected injury, I think Rossi has little chance of holding onto the motogp title this year. Casey can hand Laguna seca to Rossi,(because it is the hardest circuit to pass on) , because he knows he will be hard to beat everywhere else.
Already the betting odds for the title favour Casey over Valentino; but why the change afer only one race that Stoner was expected to win anyway? It is becoming obvious that If Valentino himself doubts he can resist the irresistable force then so too, do many observers of motogp. Can you imagine the conversations in Valentinos pit? I,d love to be a fly on the wall. "How do we beat this guy, Jerry ?"

Rossi,s season is already toast.................. and its only just begun.

rossi knows hes got a good bike this season, hes been talking up his bike, so he knows even with a perfect machine he is still getting his ... handed to him. i'd be worried.

if the bike wasnt working great then yeah ok, thats fine, u know you got a lot to improve and will do so.

any other race if it wernt for casey, rossi would of had a very easy win, over 7seconds over his teammate.

it used to be:

rossi -> gap -> rest of the field

only difference now is it goes like this

casey -> gap -> rossi -> gap - rest of the field

Wheres that fishing pic

Ok I'll bite
<
. Sorry mate I did'nt read all your post it was too much like the dribble Tom, Rockcock, Gsfan, Barry and Pinky and a few others might spit out

I was'nt round here for the first race last season but I can only imagine how Casey's lover boys were running riot after Rossis dreadfull showing at the season opener with bs posts like yours.

Sure in the bit I read you made some good points and I actually agree that Casey is on for the win big time but to say that Rossis season is toast and its only just begun shows that you know nothing about racing
<

I'll agree I made a similar post but I think everyone knew it was a joke. Well maybe not you. I never count Rossi out and I don't now. If you look back at last year Rossi is actually ahead of where he was and he won the title. Not over by a long shot.

Rossi is already in a better position than he was last year, so i don't think he's gonna panic at this point. The fact that casey won by a long way doesn't make the difference any bigger than 5 points.

Well thank god we have Casey in motogp
<
Now please, get help and get over your whole infatuation for Rossi. Its obvious you love the guy because you cant get him out of your head!! Just because you live in Oz and love to shag Kangaroos with a pic of Casey pinned to the back of its head dose'nt mean you have to be a ...... bag like Barry all the time.
You talk about people that complain about racing being boring and how they are not real fans, well anyone with half a brain can respect each and every guy that lines up every other sunday wheather his name is Stoner, Rossi, Edwards or Pedrosa
<

And don't come back with Casey deserves more respect than he gets because I would agree with you there, but its noones fault but his own thats hes not the most likeable guy(nor should he be hes there to win not make friends but not everyone gets that) or puts on a show after he wins(he dose pull the best wheelies though) and comes across as boring to some in interviews(no comment
<
)

To sum it up for ya Pinks... Get help

bla...bla...bla........
You pathetic Rossi's hater
<

Don't get too excited yet...

i think ducati will comeout on top this season as they just give stoner the pakage he needed.

ducati just got alot more consistant and alot faster in the corners due to better rideablity and materials kinder to the rubber.

the season isnt over but if rossi losses this year he will bounce back next season.

i think rossi was pissed about tyres not scared like some of you think... very strange how alot of riders where saying there tyres where mashed after a few laps very very strange.

the suzuki guys come out the worst.

I am inclined to take rossi at his word, that he decided to settle for second once he realised he would have to push very hard to make any impression, which is in itself a compliment to stoner and not a policy he has commonly pursued against other opponents in the past; I guess it could also be seen as further evidence that under the current formula the relative speeds of the bikes in the hands of the best riders are established early and don't change over the course of the race.

Again it is a strange race, with stoner saying they turned down the engine mapping at one stage because of fuel concerns which I think also supposedly happened early in the qatar race last year but not to my knowledge anywhere else.

I would be concerned if I was rossi about the advantage stoner got at the start, which may be hard to overcome given possible bike superiority in this aspect, rossi's career long habit of starting slowly, and that whatever his other talents stoner inarguably has lightning reflexes. I would also be concerned that stoner actually seemed to manage this race as against his previous practice of apparently going at absolutely maximum warp from start to end. It is hence also possible stoner may have had something in reserve, concerning which there has seldom previously been any need to speculate. (EDIT I do agree with arrabbiata elsewhere that stoner also appeared to ride a measured race last year at qatar, subsequent to which ducati lost the set-up notes for the gp08/ dorna took casey's tyres/ casey had neurological dysfunction or whatever for the next several races).

If the ducati works better at the tracks which were bad for stoner last year and rossi starts better at the ducati-friendly tracks we might see some racing for the win despite dorna's best efforts in devising the 800cc formula and the technical rules pertaining to it.

No man I knew when your joking but you do throw those jokes every chance you get(and rightly so I guess) I've just never read you say anything in a funny manner towards Casey thats why I added your name but please don't take offence it was in good spirits. I am however out to offend all the other nonsensical Casey fanboys gettin' high on their red kool aid.
I've made jokes about Casey many times like wize with Rossi. You can see that Rossi fans love to take the piss out of everything and anything, ya know the thread "photoshop fun with Vale" most posts in there are by Rossi fans, go figure

I do have to agree that Rossi is a little fearful at this point... but 'it ain't over till the fat lady sings'

I did like how he's already on with the mind games - in the post race interview, he is scared, but he still was playing the points are important to the championship card.

An interesting quote that I am sure puts the edge over Rossi's style in Qatar:
“The grip is not the best at this track and the bike was moving around a little, but maybe from my dirt-track days I feel more comfortable than maybe other riders do like this. We are all on the same tyres so it is a good feeling to win the first race like this.” - Stoner

Good point but dose'nt mean much. I know casey was at from a very young age but most of the guys pratice\race dirt bikes and supermotos, have been for many years

Okay. Today, while I am rolling the lawn, I will come up with a killer Casey joke just to even everything up. Meanwhile the Suzuki squad are still blaming everything else but themselves so my blue Koolaid taste kind of like .... today but what can I do?

I've just given mine a trim...the smell of fear? make that the smell of a two stroke - the only fix of blue smoke I get these days.

But are they actually in a truly competitive race environment with it all on the line? Of course not... they compete in the highest level of 2 wheel racing they aren't going to risk it all in practice.

Stoner was domintaing the first races in 2008 too, and Rossi won title
after one race it is way to early to say how the season will go

You have alot to learn grasshopper

First off these guys are racers and no matter what the circumstances will race to win

I thought a Nicky fan might have jumped in here. What happend to Nicky during his summer "break" last year?

Nicky had a similar growing up to Casey in respect to the dirt biking, thats why on paper Nicky looks like the ideal candidate to tame the duke after Casey and I believe he will. Pinky and Co. think Rome was built in a day
<

Oh yea and what happened to Simoncelli only last week.
