Hi. I'm curious to why so many people rate Petruzzi so high. What have you seen from him other than one good wet race?

Because most people here have looked at the bigger picture. I for one have been watching him for 3 years and if you study in detail what he did on the Ioda bike compared to team mates and their current rider, it was impressive. I won't assume you are a 'casual' fan, but true enthusiasts of the sport look further than the top 3, and just because Petrucci hasn't podiumed before Silverstone didn't mean he was putting in some impressive performances to those who aren't just interested in Rossi, Lorenzo or Marquez.

And having a little Welsh in you could never be bad, right Willski?

That's what she said...

Welcome to the forum.

Good question. And I allude to it opening the topic. A wet race can complicate the harmonoius analysis that we normally would make in dry conditions. Even though a wet race is a bonified race, a wet one is something of an offshoot, like say a sect of an establishment.

The cliche is often used to describe a wet race as rain being "the great equaliser", as if some diety has interwoven nature into the proceeding event. Inevitably these riders that arrive in higher orders than normally are noteworthy, given the pecking mantra that is normally established in the dry. The idea being, that perhaps these suppoed lesser riders may be overlooked.

What about the riders over looked because of age? I'm sure most of the people here can relate to those riders. I'd like to see what Zarco can do.

That's what she said...

What details did you study in order to ascertain this assessment?

The ones you didn't study....

I was just asking to get a straight answer. I like reading columns written by former riders. When they watch a race they see all the little things that only a former racer can pick up. How they enter a turn, when and how they brake, how soon they pick up the bike and get on the throttle etc.
I assumed this is what you meant. Study is the detailed investigation and analysis of a subject or situation. I can only glean from your anemic answer that study to you means checking out what color the livery is

.... you guys. You Rossi boppers need to get shivved.

Still bagging on Stoner YEARS after the fact.

Tells you how big it really would be for MotoGP if he came back.

WHAT DID ROSSI DO ON THE DESMOSEDICI FOR TWO YEARS?

Nothing.

Needed the Dorna Life Preserver to save him.

or ducati just got a big head because stoner was good on it - then started to build ...... bikes. as you can see, no one can ride the ducati like stoner did. that in fact makes stoner magical considering he's the only person who could ride it like a champ.

rossi sucked on ducati, get over it, we all know that.

Sparrows, I'm going to be bringing VR's Ducati adventure up for the next 50 years.

DEAL WITH IT!

Let me help you sparrow. My argument as to why the desmo sucked is that Casey was zero help developing the bike. He rode it well even when it was ...., and in practice session we'd be lucky to see him do 3 laps. He would just go out there put in a scorcher of a lap and then sit back and eat candy. So its CS's fault Rossi sucked. Nicky tried really hard for Rossi but there was just not much he could do.

Wait, wasn't this thread supposed to be about the "other" riders? It has already been hijacked by the Stoner-Rossi epic debate. Great.

Let me contribute:
Stoner tried two bikes, both worked for him.
Rossi tried three bikes, two out of three worked for him.
So what we know as a fact is that both of them could win on two different bikes.
Now, until Stoner returns and tries a third bike, and settles the dispute once and for all, we could lay this matter to rest.

About the "other" riders: Viva Yonni Hernandez! :)
