The inevitable has happened!

I will have to agree he is coming off like an ......., but he certainly has some valid questions and points. The USSB is coming off more as a bluff play then the real deal and I think they want it that way. I don't think either side wants to see a split series, let alone is it even possible.

"The World Center of Racing"...that phrase never ceases to annoy me.
The two ugliest tracks on the planet are the California Speedway & and even uglier is the Daytona Speedway.

They call Indy "The Racing Capital of the World" and it is also a infield oval track just like the two mentioned above.

You know Mr. Shupe, we have a local go kart track that is super fun. I go with my brother and we have some real scraps (as only two rival brother should have). I think they should rename it, "The Racing Center of the UNIVERSE!" What do you think?

I hear you, I cringe every time I hear the Speed commentators refer to Daytona as some great mystical place. It drives me up the wall. Just because many years ago there was racing on the beach, this history suddenly is relevant at this God awful track? Its a bit like saying my bath tub is paramount to the Water Park Capital of the WORLD. I mean, WTF are they smoking. And man how they love to circle jerk over themselves about this .... of a place. They even try to make it some special lofty accomplishment for SuperCross, the ugliest round of the series.

I don't get it either, but its just like anything, these are the fools in charge and they get to call it what ever stupid thing they want.

So from now on, I' calling my local go kart track, THE RACING CAPITAL OF THE UNIVERSE AND BEYOND!

Jumkie,

It's the NASCAR mentality to disregard any other form of racing. They've succeeded in making NASCAR synonymous with racing to the AMerican general public.

If it doesn't get the France Family pre-approval, then it doesn't matter.

Wasn't there a Daytona 500 commercial that heralded the race as, "The Greatest Race in the World?"

I think Indy's world status claim is more legitimate. They currently have the 500, SPrint Cup, and Moto GP on the calendar. F1 may be back soon to boot. If so, then the speedway hosts the 4 major racing series. And let's not forget that the U.S. Nationals aren't far away at IRP (?).

The France family smear is simply repugnant.
