Michelin has won every gp championship since 1992! 2007 looks like it may come to an end!!!

I wonder what happened to the guy at Michelin that gave the OK to pull the plug for F1?

Look how long it took them to have any competition. I'm not saying its over, just that it is a battle to look forward to.

when we get to the tracks that are have shorter straights they wont be able to make as much of an impact. Also, Bridgestones seem to be either amazing or pooo x

thats a good point, but this race were correct me if im wrong mich only had 1 in the top ten and that was rossi, funny thing is the only tyre they had in the top 10 was faulty.

They had 2, Hayden and Rossi but 2 of their best (Dani and Edwards) were out by lap one. While all the top Bstone riders were up there.

So IMO it's a close battle.

mabe bridgstone did have a good day at the office because of the crash, another good point.

Brisgestone had Michelin beaten this weekend regardless of crashes, however i think it'll go the other way on some weekends and overall be a tight battle. I think the difference will be how the riders and teams go when they havn't got the best tire.

Been a while since my last visit here. I haven't been watching MotoGP this season.

But enjoying world superbikes, the racing has been great so far. Pirelli is the unique official tire supplier for WSBK.

This tire war thing is no good for racing I reckon. I heard that the top ten at the Turkish GP were all on Bridgestones.

It must be heartbreaking, all that effort by the teams preparing for a GP and to have the race result come down to the tire manufacturer
<

They really need to have a serious look at this to make it more competitive.

One tire manufacture may be the answer.

If they want two manufactures, why not alternate them, Michellin one race, Bridgestone the next. Its got to put less presure on the tire manuafactures and gives the teams an even chance.

u must be joking. more competitive. it does'nt get anymore competitive than gps.

NO!!! keep the tire competition going. this is gp not superbike racing.

This is a world championship at the end of the day, and since tires are a very significant component of the bikes, they should be an area for significant competition. I love the tire battle going on at the moment and think its great for the racing.

A tire war doesn't hold all that much excitement for me. When races come down to who rode the best race, who eeked out the best HP/ridability ratio, that's what's exciting for me. When it's which rubber chemist mixed the best batch of goo, not so much. I will admit to not being a tire enthusiast, but I know some are.

I must agree with one of the above posts though, only having pirellis in WSBK has made it quite exciting. I think it lets other aspects, such as rider input and bike design/setup come through more, because when the tires are good, they're good for everyone, and same when they're bad. (Except for Biaggi!)

Not exactly true.

You can pretty much bet on who will win week-in-week-out in GP's, the same for WSBK (only due to talent gap).

But you have to accept there would be a lot more teams fighting for wins if there was a level tyre field.

The biggest benefactor in a tire war is the consumer. If you have no one pushing you to build a better and better tire, chances are you wont.Sport bike riders have to love the options available to them because of tire wars.

yes i agree,
i think there should be a tyre war in motogp because it is prototype racing unlike wsb and we get a choice of good rubber for our bikes.

I think bringing consumer tire choices into this is stretching things somewhat. Agreed, tire development may eventually trickle down to us in some way, but that has nothing to do with close, exciting races.

Maybe I'm just still sore about Rossi's tire giving up. I wish everyone's had given up!

of course it has everything to do with it. that what protoypes are about, testing new things till destruction then examining it and making it beter for eventual use by us mear mortals. hence the duel compound tyre haystack is advertising.
