Burn them then crush them.

Why??? The 800’s have given us good competitive racing be it with some tragedy but this has happened in the past and I hope that it’s not going to happen in the future. The maestro of the 800’s is undoubtedly CS be it on the Ducati or the Honda. We have had some great racing in the 5 years of the 800’s and I’m sure that the coming of the 1000’s we will have better racing. The 800’s were quick if not quicker than the 1000’s they replaced it was an era that really differentiated lots of riders and escalated lots more to the top. Let’s see what the 1000’s and 2012 racing will bring, will it make a difference and bring closer racing? Or will it be just like it is now where the top 2 manufacturers will run away with the podiums from race to race. I would like to see Suzuki and Ducati come to the fore so that we have closer racing!

In years to come we will yearn for the highly sophisticated GP bike rather then the dumbed down spec class that is coming. I am sad to see the end of this era where men had to have balls as big as boulders to get to the limit. Unfortunately I fear the future is going to allow average "metrosexual" riders to ride at the front and we will have "entertainment" rather than "pinnacle" motorbike racing.

Those that lament control tyres are going to have to deal with control ecu's, control ....... all in the name of entertainment and superficial viewers.

RIP 800's I will miss you!

Stoner on a stick, and some will follow.

I'm with Jumks, give me one and I'd dissect every mm of any of them 800's. All and all, I'd say good riddance.

I will miss them. That is not to say that I think the 1000's will suck, but I like the way the 800's look on track. High strung, precise, on the razors edge. And anyone saying these bikes don't slide hasn't been watching yesterdays QP.

I fear what will happen to the sport beyond 2012. As things look now, I may be forced to sacrifice part of my viewing pleasure, but I'm doing my best to keep an open mind.

Meh 800 or 1000 it won't matter.

The only difference is the wannabe fans with their "thou" bikes will be wanking in public again.

I fear more for the sport because of the 1.2 trillion national debt of Italy. The time for the 100's and in particular the claiming rule bikes is timely to keeps the grid loaded with bikes.

On this I agree, the 800's were part of the overall evolution of racing and now they have been dumped, it creates an opportunity to race with less expense, it will still be the squillion dollar highly engineered machines with the few alien riders at the front, this will give us better mid pack action.

If anyone thinks they are going to see different results and the emergence of different riders as dominant forces they may's well have an extra ....., no one can get that silly playing with one.

It isn't going to make Stoner or Jorge disappear.

I've always been in favour of keeping some of the emblematic monuments from horrific eras - statues erected by dictators, and so on. It's crucial to move on, but it's also good to remember that certain things happened. I say set up one 800cc bike at each circuit with a sign saying 'Thus but for the grace of Dorna rolls your current bike'.

I'll take a Ducati if no one wants it....those things are beatiful...and lets be honest none of us could ride them the way they are supposed to be ridden anyway.

The 800's if anything are engineering masterpieces...as Krop mentioned on his site...crap racing but masterpieces.

You dorks are lynching the wrong guy!

It's the hateful 21 liter fuel tank that needs to be shot, stabbed, bludgeoned, and ground into bits.

800cc produce more power than anyone of us have ever experienced on two wheels.

With some proper tires and no-limit fuel, these bikes would rock.

Well there has been some talk this weekend from Julian Ryder that some satellite teams might be on 800's for at least some of next year...
