Without anywhere to put this, I figured starting this thread to ease the pain of the summer break.

I'm sure you've all seen, but the Kazakhstan round has finally been called off and replaced with a second Misano round.

Crutchlow has ongoing issues with his hand, and will miss the Silverstone round too.

Arghh . . . and insult to injury, the next race is Silverstone, the most boring track in the series (now that Indy is gone).

So is Honda working feverishly on a new engine package at the moment ? I have read a few things that suggest that is the case.

Is the engine the root of the current problems with the Hondas ? If you could magically swap the Ducati engine package (including electronics) in to the Honda chassis would the Honda then be on par on the track ?

I would say not but the Duc has always gotten out of the corners so well that it is almost 'free time'

I doubt that the engine would make much difference but the electronics might though it will tuned to the Ducati chassis etc etc

I just hope Pedro Acosta is processing his experiences of the first part of the year, and will feature more prominently in feature races - as he did earlier on in the year.

Going to be tough as the more experienced riders will be slowly but surely improving over the year and he still has to experience a bunch of things in there, if he's what he looks like next year he should be more consistent.

I don't think so. The Honda is having trouble everywhere. No front end feel, and no rear grip on acceleration.

I think that has been discussed in a number of places, and the consensus is that KTM has dropped in performance, not so much Acosta.

No MotoGP experience though.
True but it’s a one-off. It’s not like he could do much worse than Remy. Plus, Gerloff didn’t have any MotoGP experience did he? He did okay on Rossi’s bike………………in the wet at least. I mentioned Loca because it’s most-likely the only chance he’ll ever get to experience that and you know he wants to. Throw him a bone.

Idk. What kind of feedback is a rider without any MotoGP experience supposed to give after a wildcard outing?
He doesn't really have any comparison.

Yamaha want the Pramac team as a development team, they need riders that can ride the wheels off the bike and, give feed back as to what it needs to improve. Quatro is fast but can’t help with good development feed back.

When Remy subed for Rins they had him testing the ‘auto squat ‘ device that they are developing for Quatro, he gave them good feed back on it , so I believe they want to give him another go to see how he will go as a development rider for the Pramac team.

I would like Remy to be given a second chance. I still find it comical that so many peoiple seem to think Raul Fernandez is the second coming yet Remy got half a season before being booted out. Bear in mind Remy beat Raul to the Moto2 title in 2021, and the were on such a par in 2022 in Tech 3 that they finished 1 point apart.

Yet Fernandez has had a 3 yr career so far, and done nothing to justify it imo.

Perhaps Remy should be more like Marc, i.e., not act like a ....? Isn't that pretty much what got Remy the boot?

When you're fighting Pit Beirer, it's difficult for your public persona to take a hit.

The trouble for Gardener, imo, is that Beirer's assessment of the satellite riders appears to have been accurate. In 2022, Dovizioso beat both Fernandez and Gardener, though Andrea only raced 2/3 of the season. Crutchlow nearly matched Fernandez and Gardener, though Cal raced just 1/3 of a season.

Gardener claimed that KTM were not serious about their satellite squad or the preparation of the bike. Beirer claimed neither Remy nor Fernandez were up to the task in MotoGP. In hindsight, one of these claims looks better than the other, and it may be difficult for Gardener to find a ride in MotoGP.

We'll see. If the 2027 rules are revolutionary enough, MotoGP 2027 might resemble 2003, with everyone getting a look and a tryout.
