Stoner is better than Rossi

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (muzzy57 @ Mar 15 2008, 09:18 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I understand completely that you guys are only having a bit of fun here with the stats but I'd like to add into the mix a reminder that Rossi walked straight into his first 500cc season in the year 2000, basically riding Mick Doohan's factory NSR ( regardless of the sponsor painted on the side ).
If you want to get things straight at least ackknowledge this: This was not Doohan's bike but the moster demanded by Criville. More top end power power made it unrideable for everyone except Rossi that
A. Where not fighting for the championship from the start (the worst mistake JB and VR did together)¨
B. Took quite a few spills before he mastered it.

I make it 511 for Stoner (119 + 367 + 25) to 499 for Rossi (247 + 241 + 11)

hahaha ok thats "oops" on my part ....... Stoners 25 but gave Rossi none for his 5th.

Still a Stoner win though

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (yamaka46 @ Mar 15 2008, 04:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Another interesting one is to take Stoner's 2006,7 seasons & first race from 08 against Rossi's 2000,1 & 1st race from 02

Stoner .. 119 + 367 + 25 = 511
Rossi .... 209 + 325 + 25 = 559

plus there were only 825 points avail to Rossi in those 33 races (16 per season in 2000/1) whereas there were 900 available to Stoner (17 races in 06, 18 in 07)

Oh are we doing unlike for unlike!! Well then how about the most national titles in 1 weekend!!

Wow thats interesting ..... here in australia the media sold us that Rossi had "inherited" Doohan's bike/team/help whatever ...

Did they sell it as Crivilles ex bike O/s?

How is it unlike? Stoner's first 2 seasons plus one race from his third against Rossi's first 2 seasons plus one race from his third... Seems to be fair to me, at least as far as stats are "fair".

Not at all. We all know it was Doohans old bike and crew. The thing is that Doohan was out from early in 99 and there was a seasons worth of Criville development (or not) in the bike. I remember hearing it was not a well behaved bike

I agree. You only have to look at the "factory" Repsol Honda's in 2000 to see what a dog's breakfast Criville made by constantly demanding more power without sufficient understanding as to how to also demand developments which allowed the characteristic of balance to be maintained.

Repsol (factory 2000 bike) : Criville 9th, Okada 11th
Pons (satellite 1999 bike) : Barros 4th, Capirossi 7th
Nastro Azzurro (factory 2000 bike, but with Rossi/Burgess development) : Rossi 2nd

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BarryMachine @ Mar 13 2008, 09:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Another Statistic ...

Since Stoner has been in motogp 511 points against Rossi's 493 ..... so he must have surpassed Rossi on that score at Qatar
