Spies will beat Edwards and Tose at Valencia

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tom @ Nov 9 2009, 12:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I see your point, but in this instance we are looking at AMA's best superbike riders compared to the best opperating in europe. The best superbike riders in europe are found in the world championship.
And how is that different from the AMA? Mladin is an anomaly.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tom @ Nov 9 2009, 05:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>It'd be factually correct but not a significant statistic with such a small sample size. It seems that very few riders make it from AMA (which i think tells us something about the series) but the ones who do make it tend to do quite well (which tells us something about the individuals). hopefully the new moto2 rules will encourage more riders over from the US into GP racing

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tom @ Nov 10 2009, 12:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>What point are you trying to make? You have changed my quote to something i didn't say and then laughed at yourself.
I'll try to spell this out for the remedial-reader (or just plain obstinate ...) in you, Thomas:

What it tells us about the series is: AMA riders make a .... of a lot more money racing their "rinky dink" series and ......' don't need to play with the ......' dummy-spittin' children in European 125 & 250 series to prove their worth, so many don't bother to compete, therefore they cannot be compared - comprendé Thomas?

What it tells us something about the individuals is: they've got balls bigger than your head, Thomas - comprendé?

And trust me the laugh was directed squarely at you and your piss-poor analysis of this, and many prior, events.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Austin @ Nov 9 2009, 01:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Don't forget Edwards, he rode AMA 250 and AMA Superbike before heading off to WSBK.

All respect to Edwards. Loved watching him in those last 8 races in his 2nd
WSBK championship year.

I was only referring to Americans who'd won MGP championships.

BTW here's a great photo of Spies - where he was allegedly saying
to the camera guy, "Finally, a GP screen I can tuck in behind."

Uhh... wanna try putting that into a coherent sentence?

Duhh!

It's a European series. Tho, Fred Merkel (X2) , Edwards (X2) ,
Doug Polen (X2) , Scott Russell, John Kocinski, Bayliss (X3) Troy Corser (X2)
and Ben Spies are none of them European. In fact the series has only been
won 7 times by Europeans Roche, Fogarty and Toesland. WSBK perennial
Nori Haga is also not a European - his passport notwithstanding. And a lot
of Brits I know proudly disdain the idea of themselves being categorized as
as Europeans per se.
<

So... you were saying?

So like i said you've taken the point i made, decided to add that AMA riders are paid well and have big balls and consider that a productive or relative point desipite wording it as maliciously as you could? Nice

So... you were saying?

sorry i thought we were discussin the European vs AMA riders in terms of the riding culture they exist in, rather than their actual nationality. Your use of the AMA instead US riders was misleading, my bad

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (povol @ Nov 9 2009, 09:35 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>That is an impressive list BUT,when you consider the series has been running for 60 years, its not a long list. We dont send many, but the ones we do send seem to do very well. I do believe Moto 2 will help riders from the US get their foot in the door. I am suprised that i have not heard Josh Herrins name in conversation for Moto2.Another is RL Hayden, the kid is magic on a 600 but the Superbike beat his ... to death.

My recollection is hazy re: the year that Americans first began competing in Grands Prix racing.
Correct me if I'm wrong - but I don't think any American riders came to the series until
1976 and that was probably Pat Henning in 350cc class. So the collective number of
championships won by American riders over three decades or approximately the 2nd
half of the history of the series is still pretty impressive. Which conversely makes the
total number of championships between Agostini and Rossi even more so.

Kropotkin has Roger Lee connected to the JIR Moto2 entry if he can secure €200,000 in sponsorship for 2010.

My memory is hazy too mate but don`t you mean Pat Hennen? Same guy who raced against Sheene in the FIM 750 c`ship and 500cc c`ship?

I like to see the riders who are giving it a go, not just playing it safe out there.

It will be that bit that takes him to the edge that decides whether he is running around with the midpack 30 seconds back, or up with the top 4 guys.

Is it lack of knowledge, lack of interest, pure stupidity or the troll in you that make you write all this .....? First it was his elbows out style that proved him slow
<

Now it's how close to the edge he rides. Next he is probably far to old and way beyond the top, right?
<

Even the vaguest interest in WSBK and you would know that there is no lack of riding at the edge for Spies. Record number of poles and a few spectacular crashes, all done on unfamiliar tracks, more than prove that point. So, it that's all it takes to be with the top guys he is already there.

so contrary to the original lead in post you are saying Ben Spies was riding on the edge at Valencia?
<

Well you better take that up with the original poster.

Halfwit ............ read the post before you go crapping on about more .... than Gyros to find positions on track, or "i watched Casey's throttle control from my vantage point at track side and I can report that ....... " ........... what a fruitcake ......
