Your Mom's House
For you Euros crying about your coverage, check this out. SpeedTV, America's premier "motorsports" channel will be showing a 'marathon' of the most ........ show ever conceived called 'Bullrun' (cross between reality/game show with a broken ex-retread WWF wrestler as their host) from 9am-3pm, that's the entire Sunday line-up feature. Oh, the marathon of stupidity will be followed by the "Speed Report" at 4pm, which will undoubtedly give you a 3 minute highlights of winners and losers news about MotoGP (at the very end of the show).

Then at 7pm (west coast), we get the actual MotoGP race.

Anyway for those interested in GP programming schedule for Sunday on StupidTV, here it is: LINK

Actually, my buddy got it. I held out. But he's letting me use his password. The problem is that I like to have BBQ events at my pad and invite all the fellas to watch the races on the big screen. Fing SpeedTV screwed up the plan.

Don't think so, but will check tonight!

(I have a MacBook G5 laptop, and a 1 year old standard HD Big ... Screen TV, anybody out there know the answer?)

You better make sure your running the proper operating system on your mac for Motogp.com. Another problem could be when the race happens for live, and when its rebroadcast.

Check to see if your TV has a DVI input. It should.

I feel your pain Jumkie, Speed TV is a bloody joke. Like so much television today, its been turned into "false-reality" tv with overly dramatic, mindless ......... No AMA, only 1 WSBK race on Sunday, and now delayed racing to show garbage tv instead.

I still set up my DVR but most of the time I watch the race on a download. My DVD player lets me play avi files thru a usb jump drive, so if I want to see it on the big screen that's what I do.

Although I enjoy the coverage of MotoGP on Speed by Gavin and Nick, I prefer Moody and Ryder on Eurosport. We will have to see how the BBC's coverage is. But I take what I can get.

I would foot the bill for MotoGP coverage on the site if it wasn't spoiler central.

With all these new Digital TV devices, cant they see what people are watching or DVR'ing?

hard to believe, a liberal with a Mac
<

It depends on your TV and powerbook. I think your powerbook probably has DVI and S-Video, both which should be supported by your TV. If not grab an adapter at radio shack for 5 bucks.

Plug and play.

I have a PC laptop that I have played movies on over my big screen. The laptop has an SVideo out that I hook direct to the TV, and the Audio out from the laptop I use the headset out din plug splitter that splits into standard RCA (red/white) audio plugs for inputting audio to the respective tv input. Mac should have DVI output I think. They make all kinds of different DVI to whatever type cables.

Bro, you're barely getting a buzz at 7pm? I'm crawling by then.

BBQ starts at 2pm, and by 4pm I already have like a 6 pack and three shots of tequila. Did you forget its Easter Sunday? Why did God make religious holidays for if they were not to watch sports, eat meat, and drink beer?

Agree about StupidTV programming.

Disagree about Moody and Ryder, not sure which one, but one of those two goes all ape .... crazy with excitement and voice shrills in high tones when something happens in the race. I much prefer the two Brits from the motogp feed that Speed broadcast, I guess their names are Gavin and Nick (one of them says "absolutely flying" alot). But make no mistake, the Euros are much better at this than the Americans on CBS or Speed.

Also, thanks for the tip on DVD, I'm gonna look to see if I have a similar feature.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>According to roadracingworld.com: In the United States Speed TV will cover every Grand Prix live, whilst the two U.S. GPs at Laguna Seca (California) and Indianapolis (Indiana) will be broadcast via national network Fox TV. LINK

However, I just checked the programing for SPEED and they are showing it at 7pm west coast (PST). According to the motogp.com schedule, the race is at 11pm (2300), at that time its 1pm here. Am I missing something or going crazy? Or are they lying?

SpeedTV never covers the races live. Ever.
Qatar is GMT + 3 hours
PST is GMT - 8 hours
The race is at 11pm Qatar time = 8pm GMT = 12:01pm PST
It makes sense that SpeedTV would show it much @ 4pm EST and 7pm PST.

And your laptop will for sure hook up to the HDTV. Best Buy or Radio Shack, FTW.

BOO FOOOO HOOO JUMKIE - I'M ON EST AND GET TO WAIT UNTIL 10:00 PM - HAVE TO STAY AWAY FROM EMAIL ALL DAY - IN CASE SOME FRIEND SENDS ME THE RESULT IN THE TITLE LINE - AND ALL THAT FOR SPEED'S CRAPPY LOW DEF TRANSMISSION.

Dorna and Infront confuse me with their efforts to market to the US. The horrible TV package does little to promote the sport. if you're gonna invest in a demogrpahic with two grand prixs in the country, you should finish the job and make sure the product is well-represented on TV. The race is on CBS? Who cares? The coverage is unbearable!

The Indy Car Series has taken the initiative this year by moving its race broadcasts to Versus. Now the series has what must be the best TV coverage in the sport's history. Sure, it's a risk going to a relatively unknown channel, but an effort is being made to create a quality TV product, something that could actually be marketed (now for the on track stuff
<
).

Once things improve economically, why couldn't Dorna or Infront take a path less travelled and make their races watchable?

The Indy Cars had 223 thousand people watch on Versus! 75% dropoff of their already below 1.0 Nielsen Ratings they had at the same race last year. Hahaha... they are idiots for trying that. Tony George is an absolute ... for thinking this deal would bring his League of fun any benefit.

The problem is that fact that with the Nascarization of racing in the US (pack racing in Indy Car), and the fact that because of that, road racing is foreign to possible race fans. And because of that, and that fact that the US is lazier than ever, the major networks do not want to risk placing the series in the nation spotlight. While the risk will more likely than not, reap huge rewards if done properly, they still do not want to take the risk, because of the small chance of failure.

They may perceive Americans as unreceptive to their phenomenal english announcers. Sadly, they may even be right! Kevin Schwantz would be great!
Anyway, DORNA needs to target ESPN, The MSF, and Suzuki dealers if they wanna grow. Most new 600cc sportbike riders couldn't tell you who Valentino Rossi is. Vale and Nicky can walk the streets of NYC and not be noticed. Let Danica or Jeff Gordon do that and see what happens.
