i'm sure several of the american networks will have coverage, so it isn't a big deal really. does anyone know why speed network hasn't been showing the GPs recently? i'll bet they are trying to squeeze in one more round of nascar
<

pretty sure NBC and CBS will air it live. they did last year if i'm not mistaken. whoever finds a network showing it, post it here ASAP so i can set my tivo

Its not that speed has chosen not to show the gp's, its the fact that the american broadcasting stations have bought the rights to a certain number of races during the season. This is because of the fact that the sport is growing in the states and this gives the normal american viewer a chance to watch. thats why is the commentary you will hear "for those of you watching moto gp for the first time..." the network knows they are talking to a crowd that does not have a lot of knowlege of moto gp. the sport is growing here, hopefully this is just the start.

CBS will be back again to broadcast Laguna Seca live. Hopefully they do a 2 hour show with full run down and report, other than the 2 hour, fit-it-in crap they pulled for Germany.

Don't count on the full race. They cut 6 laps out of Germany and it is in a 1 hour time slot again.

But Laguna will be live.

Same with Indy on NBC.

As much as I hate right now we have to deal with dumbed down versions of our true love motogp. The U.S. is gaining more and more viewers that want a true racing sport that gives them the best of the best. Man and Machine. Nascar is a dying sport and that is one reason why I believe they want to get their mits on the AMA. So one day the rest of our country and mostly the youth that is injected into the sport via harley's and dirtbikes will soon be large proponents of roadracing in the U.S., mainly moto gp.

I live in Miami which is a top 5 media market in the country. I would think it is a top market in terms of sales due to the fact that you can ride all year long.
Last year Laguna was pre empted by the local news at 5:00 pm.
Keep in mind that the 5 pm Sunday news is probabaly pretty low in terms of viewership.
Also there was no major breaking news to report on.
How low did they expect ratings to be if it was replaced by news?

Can someone please explain why Greg White is broadcasting CBS coverage.
He's unlistenable as a pit reporter and now he's calling a whole race.
How many ....... times do I have to hear him say the word motorcycle in a sentence.
I want to rip his throat out when he refers to a rider as the #46 bike.
This is not NASCAR. We refer to the riders by name in this sport. Someone as deep as him in the industry should know that. Also when did the word bobble become in the motorcycle vernacular.
I have never heard any rider use that word. Why does he?
Schwantz was a great rider. Let's leave it at that.
The way he annunciates every 5th word which usually is the word reeeeeally, is reeeeealy annoying.

I usually reserve the word "hate" for people like Pedrosa. But I also HATE Greg White. I don't understand why and how he still exists on TV. He is ....... ugly, has ...... vocabulary, sounds like he loses his thoughts in the middle of a sentence, sounds like a five year old making up ........ questions, has zero insight about the race and industry, ect. ect. Do you remember his show? I kid you not, we use to drink to his show to make fun of the guy and wonder in amazement how somebody so dumb and ungifted in the language could possibly be hired to do such a show. Even the rider's he would interviewed would look at him like, dude, you are a ........ ..... LORD, PLEASE MAKE HIM A MUTE!

Agreed.

I remember when Rossi passed Edwards, he was quiet for the pass, but was then, "OHHHHHHH!!!! ROSSI MAKES THE PASS ON EDWARDS!!!!!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!"

I think Greg did a good job calling the last race...you can tell he was trying to get Kevin to 'get in to it" a bit more...no, he's no where near as good as the GP.com guys...BUT he was WAY better than Freddy Spencer and that other ...... bag we normally get....

Still...i'd rather catch it live from the feed

When I was watching the race my wife came and sat down half way through it and stated that is Kevin Schwantz but who is the other ..... talking. She told me to go download it and then got on her R1 and disappeared for the afternoon.

The remaining season is available for 24 euros on MotoGP.com = I will be watching live feed with those lovely brit announcers.

If you have Tivo /a cable box/Nielson, turn on your TV with the volume down when the race airs. We need the ratings to make sure the sport gains popularity in the US. FWIW, I think the US announcers are shyte. Two weekends of race coverage is quite good though!

Watching an AMA Superbike race, I turn the volume off, Freddie Spencer and whomever the other guy is just plain suck. BLAND.

I like the guys that do World Superbike, I think they do a great job, very knowledgable, funny and way over the top with enthusaism.( me wife can't stands them

I think dorna is trying to kick SpeedTv to the curb as they have done very little to improve the popularity this great sport in this great country. Dorna on the other hand is trying everything possible to increase the popularity here, including having 2 races here in the US. Saasagering on CBS was a way for CBS to get their hands dirty and iron out their kinks in the broadcast. However, I think SpeedTv should carry the orginal Dorna feed later on in the week. The CBS commentary just SUCKED!
