Well Guys n Gals its been 3 weeks since all this crazy .... started and I still aint posted. Me bad!
Well my adventure started on the weds afternoon myself my son demolition dan on here and my mate mat set off from yorkshire down to silverstone.
To cut a long 1 short. Good drive down. Set up base camp. Lit the bar-b-q. Got pissed fed n slept.
Thursday we were up fed n over to the track for about half 8
Dan waited for the DOC bus & Mat n me headed for the team/media shuttle.
Got into the paddock and the first rider I see is Hiroshi Ayohama. So just walked up n asked him to sign a photo. While he was signing asked if he was on pedro's bike that wk-end to which the answer was no! Damn just lost a fiver to mat
Anyways we spend most of the morning just roaming about the paddock and down the pitlane seeing who we could see. I managed to have a chat with most of the british riders and get a few signitures on a few more of my photo's.
So about lunchtime we all take a wander back to the campsite. We were on the litchlake site just across from the main entrance. Good site.
Enter Shovelhead Dave & Andy whom I'm sure some of you know. For those that don't:
Shovelhead. He's on here & he can get where water cant! Truly has the gift of the gab. Top bloke!
Dave. shovels mate and a top class fella
Andy drinks like a fish & races classic bikes. not in that order!
So shovel needs to get to the paddock to meet some peeps & a guide so he dont get lost.
So he & i head over there and I spend most the afternoon listening to him speak in french but hey I got a couple of damn fine expresso's.
Down there we met Caramac(hope thats the correct spelling) didn't really have the time for a proper chat but seemed like a really nice bloke.
So more greetings more french and finally were done.
Back to the camp and onto the charity auction. We hung around there had a few beers watching the auction til near the end.
Back to the camp. Fire up the bar-b-q. Its at this point I put 3 roving gstand tix up on PS.
Phone rings & its Arrabb wanting 2 of the tix. We arrange to meet the next day when he reaches the track.
Friday and the first day of bikes on the track
After a slow start we are all up and about and enter Lyndon he's a guy I met out at Jerez we share a similar sense of humour and ended up going out to Estoril for the craic together too.
Shovel Andy & Dave head for the paddock bus & the rest of us are gonna wander.
So. The bikes we head over just before the 125's first showing and get on the grandstand on turns 3&4 take a few nice shots of some riders and generally just happy to be back at a track.
The phone rings its Arrabbi "Were just waiting for them to get here man, they're heading for the main entrance I'll call you when they get here" agreed.
So the 125's finish & our group want to wander so off we head on foot towards the paddock but skirting the track.
We dont get that far when the motogp boys came out so we got on the grandstand on the bottom end of brooklands straight to watch.
So the gp's finish and we start to wander again. we went round the infield past the helliport and the sound of moto2 rings through the air.
The phone rings its Arrabbi again. "They're on their way from the airport. Call you when they get here. ok?" Yeah mate no probs.
So we continue towards the paddock & found some great places to get unobstructed shots of the moto2 guys I even slyly snook into a media only area for a few of Brad Scott n Kev
Moto2's just about to finish and the phone rings again, its Arrabbi and theres a problem the guys have arrived and they're at club. My heart drops! Im on the infield at the other side of the track! So I says no probs I'll jump on the shuttle & meet behind the start/fin grandstand. Agreed and I set off leaving my group to head off to the paddock.
I eventually get to the Grandstand and phone Arrabb. More bad news Jumks Gator & Levi are at becketts entrance. Arrabbi Basspete & Willski are at club. So arrange to meet them there. Got there near the said beer tent & sat on the bank phoned Arrabbi & at last we meet. Arrabbi then introduced me to Willski & Basspete.
Greetings exchanged he then explains how the guys got off the shuttle at becketts and we had to head there.
Got supplies (a beer) and we set off. Arrabbi & Willski thought it was qually and off they went. Myself & Pete settled for a more relaxed pace. I had just walked a third of the track
Petes a real nice guy and really enjoyed chatting to him as we walked and supped our way to becketts.
Anyways as we approach becketts Pete wants the karzis so says meet at the entrance. I go off and find Arrabbi Willski with Jumkie GatorDuc & Levigarrett.
Greetings and handshakes all round. and many other posts can take it from there.
Before I close I've just got to say:
Jumkie, it was a pleasure to meet you. Your enthusiasm was infectious I now sort off understand you and your posts and look on you in a different light. But remember! Its nice to be important!? I'll let you finish that one
Levi & Gator you guys are perfect gentlemen and listening to Levi slating the rossi yellow everywhere was soo funny
Arrabbi Willski keep in touch, if your doing anything around the uk bsb wsbk gimmie a shout I'll probably make one. Willski soz I didn't get in touch before assen it would have been great to meet up over there too. Next time for sure. Great guys.
And last but not least Basspete I liked this guy so much I invited him over to our site for food & beer because he was on his own on silverstone campsite. I also sort of got it sorted for him to meet Nail Mackenzie as his wife was organising zooki hospitality. PETE WHERE WERE YOU MAN!?
Its a shame I couldn't have met more of you guys and spent more time with the ones I did meet because you really are a great bunch. But I had guests of my own and an already full agenda
Lastly really wish I could do Gunna but work commitments wont allow, Indy either
However I'm planning to do wsbk at miller next year If anyones about
