Well I thought it was funny

if they believe china are bad towards the Tibetans then i say yes, it will be a little like the riders safety council tho, only a few will bother the rest will make excuses after.

unless china open a proper dialogue with the Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama to resolve this issue i will not be watching this race. it would be hypocritical of me not to boycott my sport while asking others to boycott the Olympics.

I hate it when celebrities become involved in political protests just because they are popular at the moment.

They always appear to be more interested in getting themselves in the media than actually helping the cause.

Most riders wouldn't know anything about the issues and probably couldn't point to Tibet on a map. It seems stupid.

If they were so concerned they should have protested last year.

It's really funny.

First, when countries like Iran protest against Israel and refuse to play them in sporting competitions, people complain and scream "keep sports and politics separate".

But when one wants to boycott China, it's fine.

Can anyone else see the hypocrisy?

There should be a huge protest focussed on China's use of endangered wildlife in traditional Chinese medicines (which are actually highly mythical without merit or scientific basis for its claims). Tigers are nearly extinct because of this and China continues blindly and ignorantly to decimate the few remaining in the wild through illegal poaching. The world should boycott China until it gets the message and actually stops this shocking practice. International pressure should be applied to China, cancelling the MotoGP race in Shanghai would send a strong message and put pressure on the Chinese government to actually enforce the current laws against it.

well i opened my big gob frosty and have to stick by my word. im praying china start talking to to Tibetan leaders soon so i can watch the race.

Yes. And I'm sure a few will.
Stoner won't though. I suspect that even if all the other riders boycotted the race, Stoner would show up, cruise round and take the points. Even if he didn't need them. Which he does.

I feel that the riders have every right to protest but do hope that it is a genuine concern borne about by their knowledge of the situation and not a 'jump on the latest bandwagon' approach.

However, I suspect that if they do protest it will be in the form of shirts, colour schemes or minor actions rather than a 'no race' type of thing.

Part of me suspects that at least one rider will have the Tibet flag on either their helmet or bike as a means of protest.

Was it Chili who was 'forced' by his team to ride a race when all other factory riders had withdrawn, thus giving him his only 500cc GP victory?

From memory, the rider dubbed the 'mobile chicane' (Michael Rudroff) finished third.

What they should be protesting about is how ......... this track is for a MotoGP race ... that said, they don't need to worry ... after this year it is gone! Thank ... for common sense!

I hope DORNA are reaching into their pockets and finding the Dollars/Euros/Yen/or whatever currency they need to find to bring back Istanbul!

I love Turkey and I love their fantastic MotoGP circuit!

that would be pretty cool as that flag is banned by the chinese government. they could jail any rider who used it.

Who reckons Valentino will be the one with it on his bike/helmet/leathers?

These men are individual. Each should do what they consider is right with their own conscience, nothing different from us. So I think they should do what ever they feel they must do and live with the consequences or rewards of their decisions according to their beliefs.

I'm sure this is the case, sadly enough.
