How much leverage does he have.... and is it coming to an end.

Again as I posted in another thread, am I the only one to notice that rules changes and bend whenever he comes into a different team? And when he openly criticizes to the media about something he's not happy about ie the 'weight rule' he recently proposed? Next thing you know he's riding on Saturday Night special tires..... heck isn't that why he's a 'test rider' supposedly developing Bridgestone tires for street bikes? He's even gone as far as spreading rumors of him possibly going to WSBK. He's slowing losing leverage with DORNA because now there are more than a handful of riders who can beat him at his game and is marketable. Plus no teams wants to invest in him anymore due to his personal riff with all the teams he's been with.

What do you all think?

What rules changes?

He's been whining about the rules since 2007 so it's a bit difficult to say that his whining is causal. Besides the egregious switch to Bridgestone in 2008, I don't see any major changes to benefit Rossi.

Imo, if you want to understand Rossi's whining about weight limits, you have to understand that the whining about the fuel limits and electronics have ceased. I think someone has put a gag order on the riders, but Rossi is going to keep at it anyway even if he needs to invent a new rules controversy. I dislike his selfish politicking, but MotoGP sucks right now so I'm not going to get too bent about it.

Oh come on Lex... being as you are a conspiracy theorist, you of all people I would expect, would be the first to read between the lines. Rule changes has been implemented and changed in Rossi's favor ever since he's been involved in MotoGP. MotogGP differs in F1 in that there is really no sanction body when it involves the racers themeselves, thus giving leverage to those who are deemed marketable. And I give Rossi credit for that, he's not only a great racer but he understands how the Moto GP world turns.

Let's just say marketing is a ..... and killing the sport.

Don't tell me you are a closet Rossi Bopper now?

Simoncelli is taking over Rossi's role for the Italian press.

As Rossi is not performing now Simoncelli is being hailed as the next coming ......... and yet he hasn't even podiumed yet has he?

Maybe this weekend he will change that but I suspect if he does, it will be overplayed to the max.

What rules changes? Reducing fuel capacity by 5 liters? Banning overnight specials? Changing capacity to 800cc?

Are you talking about smashing into Gibernau?

I'm a conspiracy minded person, but I'm not sure what you are trying to say. The technical regulations certainly haven't changed in accordance with Rossi's wishes. Dorna don't police any of Rossi's ridiculous moves, but it's not like either of Rossi's incidents at Jerez played a crucial role in him securing glory. He made an ... of himself to keep his silly curse alive. This season he dumped the bike while running into Stoner which has given Rossi his worst start since he was a rookie in 2000.

The only really questionable rule bending was the Bridgestone contract and his offtrack pass at Laguna Seca. Both allowed him to clinch the 2008 title.

One bogus title out of seven. Constant whining coinciding with constant rules changes. I don't see any grand conspiracy regarding rules manipulation. If there is a conspiracy involving Rossi, it's surely about the amount of money he is siphoning out of the sport, and his close relationship with Dorna (who write neither the technical regulations nor the sporting codes).

Good lord thats a bit much for these parts. . .

The last thing MOTOGP needs is to become the soap opera that is F1!

Amazing what a month off has done, some riders seem to have tucked in there wedding tackle and brought out there manginas. Post Quali interviews, bloody hell looked like .... version of WWE.

If it was Spies doing as well as Sic is doing, you wouldn't be talking like this...

Anyone who doubts Simoncelli's talent does so at the risk of sounding like an ...... It's there for all to see. He's impressed me more than Spies so far this season. Some will point to the Honda, some will say Spies is still adjusting to the factory Yamaha and the GP paddock and both might have reasonable points. But like many have said, it's much easier for a very fast rider to stop crashing than it is for a fast rider to become a very fast rider. Not saying Spies doesn't have it, but Simoncelli has been showing him up this season.

That said, Spies doesn't ride with the level of aggression Simoncelli does. I don't think there's anyone on the grid who rides with such aggression. And, at times, it borders on recklessness, which is not an admirable quality in any rider.

Why Spies?
<
He's languishing down in 14th 1 point behind Simoncelli
<
I don't get the Spies reference ?

Though I note that it does seem he may have been a tad overrated as well. Is that your point?

Dear Supershinya56. What rule has Rossi bent? Dorna have not done Rossi any favours, in fact the opposite is true. You are finding it tough getting past your Rossi hate..eh?
