Rossi: "Stoner did an incredible job on the Ducati"

I was going to say that Stoner isn't the only one who's been targeted by moronic "fans", that some ..... shone a laser into Lorenzo's eye at the Australian Grand Prix...

...but apparently that was just a reflection of a dashboard indicator. Maybe Stoner is the only one

Well it's inexcusable to spit on anyone at any time. I also have no time for the boo boys and some sports like PDC darts for example are plagued by this behaviour. From my experience at race meets its quite rare and normally just a small group of idiots doing it for attention. My point was stoner is by far the first racer to be subjected to this and in the grand scale compared to other sports what he received was minor in comparison. I gave an example of niki Pedesen in Poland. He had tens of thousands giving him ..... I've seen darts players have full cans of beer thrown at them. Then how about the black football players having thousands monkey chanting and throwing bananas at them. I'm not at all defending the morons who booed or spat at stoner, i'm just pointing out what he was subjected to doesn't even register on the radar for some sportsman. I've seen Biaggi take are far bit from the argie porto fans in 02 yet he doesn't whine about it forever more. It's a fact of life that when you are on the world stage you will have those who love you and those who hate you. You talk about Roger walters taking ...... I bet David Gilmour didn't. Why would that be ?  Because Gilmour aint a whining .... like Walkers. These people cop the .... from the morons because they know it will effect them.

Stoner's objection was to being booed at a charity event, not a race, and to being spat at; I admittedly conflated the incidents in my original post. I am a big fan of most of Pink Floyd's work btw, and it was actually Gilmour who was spat at and who decided he no longer wanted to tour.

Coincidentally there was a news item on the radio this morning that the English cricket team don't want to play a test in Brisbane on their next tour after being booed this time. A bit rich given the Barmy Army, to whom no-one here objects; they are actually quite appreciated. The Brisbane crowd are admittedly a tough crowd, but  hate New South Welshmen far more than they hate Englishmen; there is a formal "Boo a Blue" campaign for the state of origin Rugby League games.

Well ,as i said this behaviour is unexceptionable period. But it does happen in all forms of sport in many countrys. Should they put up with it? well of course not but the sad fact is it exists . You either let it get to you and let the morons win, or you take it on the chin and move on like most do.  I am surprised Gilmour would have been subjected to any abuse. I really can't understand what anyone would have against him. Maybe they spat at walkers but missed lol...i'm joking before you flame me.

As for Cricket, a boring sport played by hooray henrys. I would rather watch paint dry. A pity really as i live walking distance from the Agrias bowl formally The Rose bowl.

It was the day of champins, I was there And it was discusting how he was treated, I was ashamed to be a brit on that day.

I am sure moronic fans are not specific to England, and that Australia has its share of them if not more than its share. Anyone who shone a laser at a rider should not only be banned for life from attending motor racing but also should be prosecuted.

Yes.
If it, in fact, actually....happened (outside of the twitisphere)

That's what I mean. Supposedly, Krop tweeted after the fact that it wasn't a laser after all, but a reflection of one of JL's dash lights.

I understood your implication. I was trying to make the point that I wasn't blaming English fans in general (nor I believe was Stoner) or making any claims of superior behaviour from Australian fans. I suspect the fans involved would be distinguished by characteristics other than their nationality.

I think being booed during competition is definitely part of being a sportsman. Sebastian Vettel was booed this year despite, whether you like him or not (not in my case), driving fantastically well by any measure.  I think  a rider being annoyed by being booed after giving up time to attend, and donating items for auction at, a charity day is understandable rather than petulant though.

.... any 'fans' that boo at races

I agree in regard to motor racing particularly given the risks involved for competitors, but you probably can't worry about it as a competitor. I was in agreement with Mark Webber about Vettel being booed, and I would imagine he is less fond of Vettel than I am.

Yeah. Watch Qatar, you can see the red shift light reflecting on everybody's visors on the way into turn one. This laser idea is bizarre.

This will always be an asterisk on those two championship years; the fact that Stoner was riding a glorified garbage truck. He did have Lorenzo to contend with in those two years, though, although JL did spend much of his rookie year hitting the eject button on his M1.

Lol, no-one told JL to crash. He was riding too fast for his ability at the time.

Those crashes were definitely all Jorge. But it shows that he wasn't a threat to Rossi in '08.

Perhaps taken from the laser incident that occurred in MX. (See Alessi's family)

Rossi's move on Sete at Jerez 05 was dirty. But, aside from that, I can't recall any other instances where he has made 'dirty' moves. I haven't seen much of him pre-2000, but from 13 years in the premier class, I can only clearly point to that incident.

At the corkscrew in Laguna Seca 08 and Jerez 2011? They were two mistakes, rather than calculated 'dirty' manoeuvres. He almost wiped himself out at the Corkscrew (and he did wipe himself out at Jerez!).

Lemans 2006 is probably Vale's worst offense

Regarding Laguna 2008, Stoner talks about it on Fastest. He said something about a lot of .... went down at the back part of the circuit that the camera didnt show.  The ....? The camera was on those two pretty much the entire race.

So where do you think Valentino would have finished had he been riding a Ducati at LS 08?
