Or,we can finally put to rest the debate of who this tire deal was really about. As if we didnt already know.I dont know which bugs me most, the spec tire proposal or this blatant attempt to please the god.

Honda?

If he does happen to get bridgstones it might be a bad move. Just because Bridgestone are on top for one season does not discount the 10+ yrs of Michelin Dominance.

If tis true, that sucks.

He should ride what his teammates do, not get special treatment.

I just dont get why do people want Rossi to stay with michelin. why can't he change to bridgestones. Stoner switched to bridgestones and noone complained. Melandri, Capirossi, Gevernau, Elias, Stoner should be the last one to talk about who should change or not. It sounds like he wants to call the shots.. If he keeps this up and Rossi does use bridestones. I think things are gonna get pretty interesting for 2008. Rossi, Gevernau anyone....

This is not new. Biaggi and Tamada were teamates on diff. tires.

Damn straight, you would think Stoner (or indeed his fans) would want Rossi on the 'Stones, nobody could say "it's just the tyres" then...

But nither want that to happen, wonder why?

That said, I don't know if it is a smart move alltough it makes me think that Rossi and Pedrosa have a bit more info than we do about the tire situation out there. They sit on the bikes out there battling with the bridgestone guys and I suspect they have experienced things that make them certain about what rubber they would perfer to be on their bikes.

I have no problem with this. They both want their bikes/ tyres to be as fast as possible, which is completely understandable, and posturing about wanting closer competition etc should stop. I guess stoner is annoyed because rossi has the clout to possibly get the rules changed or influence bridgestone to supply yamaha; bridgestone have said previously they don't want to supply any more teams. Perhaps if he wins 3 or 4 more world championships he may have similar power.

The only problem is that this would lead to a control tyre, as michelin would probably withdraw, and bridgestone as the only competitive tyre but able to pick to whom they gave their best tyres (I think there is reason to believe michelin did this previously) would be the worst of all possible worlds.

I understand.. but, Stoner is still in no position to be annoyed about Rossi wanting to use Bridgestones for next year. He does not own them. Its like Rossi telling Stoner that he would not like for him to go with michelin next year. Its just stupid to me.

I did say that either of them are entitled to do whatever they can to get the best possible tyres, as are all the other riders. If rossi did have an advantage in the past it does not mean anyone has the right to an advantage in the future. I was merely pointing out that stoner may feel that rossi is in a position to influence matters in his favour; I would be surprised if stoner did not use such influence similarly if he had it.

I agree with you that stoner should stop complaining and get on with it, and have said this previously on another thread.

If this happens and Jorge is on Michelins, then we know who really runs Motogp don't we? I read somewhere Lorenzo signed on the condition of equal machinery. If they are on different tyres then one will have an advantage one weekend and the other on a different weekend. Not equal then is it?
What happens if Michelin are the dominant tyre in 2008? Jorge and Dani & Nicky will battle it out ahead of both Casey and Valentino.

On a sidenote I thought Nicky was fantastic today until the bike let go.
Was so hoping he would podium but as usual luck deserted him.

I think this is a snap reaction to Rossi losing this year, and i think a bad idea for the interests of him and the team.

indeed! ... and judging by the interview he did on TV here in Aust. he probably has rallying in his sights for the near future.
