I remember back in 2015 when Rossi started his disgusting smear campaign against Marquez... that Rossi said in an interview "I will let my riding do the talking" or something to that effect. Like I say I remember seeing it but cannot find trace if it ont tinterweb.

Can anyone remember it? Got a link?

thanks

This isn't the story you mean is it?

VALENTINO ROSSI TO RECEIVE M.D. | THE DOCTOR TO BECOME A REAL DOCTOR

Valentino Rossi to Receive M.D. Degree
Nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi is set to receive his first degree from the University of Bologna, making his nickname of “The Doctor” carry much more weight.

Unlike most ecclesiastical honorary degrees given to highlight achievements in a given field – Rossi’s M.D. will carry the full weight and respect of any other medical professional, allowing Valentino Rossi to participate in residency programs, eventually becoming a physician.

Valentino Rossi to Receive M.D. | The Doctor to Become a Real DoctorThe 40-year-old Italian Grand Prix star had earned the nickname of “The Doctor” early in his career due to his racing prowess. Although not common in English speaking nations, the moniker of “The Doctor” is bestowed upon those as a sign of respect, despite their profession or skillset; the nickname has no medical relevance. Similarly, the moniker of “The Professor” is used in the same manner – and a title carried by fellow Italian MotoGP rider, Andrea Dovizioso

The esteemed Italian university made the announcement following events that transpired on an international flight from Argentina to Italy, directly after the closing of the 2019 Argentinian Grand Prix at Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo.

Rossi, who was accompanied by his longtime friend Uccio Salucci, aboard the Boeing 777 commercial jet found himself in a precarious situation when fellow passenger, Maria Dos-Tres suddenly went into labor.

Karen Mayonnaise-Smith, lead flight attendant on the Delta operated flight described the scene, “Roughly halfway into our transcontinental flight, a pregnant first-class passenger began showing signs that her child was on the way. Her abdominal cramps worsened and eventually her water broke, which I had no interest in cleaning up. At that point, I asked the captain to make an announcement for a medical professional. Unfortunately, things were lost in translation.”

Due to a small translation issue, Uccio Salucci, longtime friend and team manager mistook the announcement for a medical professional as an acknowledgement for the nine-times world-champion, Valentino Rossi, who shot up from his seat and stated, “for sure! We have a doctor right here!” directing the flight-staff’s attention towards the Italian.

Rossi, who prior to this had received no emergency medical training of any kind was thrust into the position of midwife at 38,000 feet in the air. Rossi then pulled out his Dianese D-air leathers from the overhead compartment and over the next three hours, he worked tirelessly with Karen Smith to deliver Mrs. Dos-Tres’s child.
“Allora, for sure, it was difficult, no?” Said Rossi, “I tell Maria to push very very hard and finally, we make a good result because for sure, the baby is here.” Although, the events seemed to have left a lasting impression on the Italian, as he pointed out that child delivery is “ah, kind of gross.”
Karen Mayonnaise-Smith had this to say, “I thought it was a little strange that a doctor had motorcycle leathers with him and to be honest, it was a confusing to see this old guy claim to be a motorcycle racer. Either way, we got that child out there with the help of good ol’ fashion elbow grease!”
Davide Trerè, director of the medical program at the University of Bologna commented, “Valentino Rossi is being given this full-weight degree for his recent actions while traveling. Rossi is a national treasure and at no point did we consider the sheer liability of granting someone the privileges of giving medical advice to strangers despite the complete and utter lack of training in the field. He rides a motorcycle very fast and those are just as complicated as the human body. Allora.”

Lin Jarvis, Managing Director of the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team also shared his thoughts, “I couldn’t be happier for Valentino. It’s no secret that he’s moving into his twilight years as far as racing goes, and maybe, this will be a new chapter in his professional life.”

It remains to be seen if Rossi pursues a new life as a healer, however, he can do so if he wishes. Rossi has seemed to have turned over a new leaf, as his signature WLF which was proudly worn on his leathers for more than a decade has been removed, citing a lack of viva about the figa.

I think it was Marc who said that, because he could see the insanity of rossis carry on at that time and had better things to do than be a schoolyard ......

Furthermore .... he has stepped the game up, with his riding, since then...... so he has been true to his word.

Wow, thanks for the links. Not sure I'd be all the confident with his diagnosis but it would be hilarious to see him trying.

.

No worries

I already never really liked doctors....

The more i think about it the more i realize how ...... up MotoGP was for me for so long.

People don't seem to understand the impact this ......... shadow had on The non yellow MotoGP fans.

Succhia here might be taking it a bit too far however, Rossi had it coming for a while that people will want to kick him when down.

I am actually surprised I can refrain myself from going all in like Succhia lol

He is a prima donna and hung around way too long past his used by date, but hopefully he continues to stay around, long enough to see his records all get beaten.

I'm kind of hoping Marc moves on from HRC when his contract expires after 2020. If he changes teams in 2021 and wins a title on a new machine Rossi fans will have to come up with all new reasons as to why Rossi is the best ever. It will be hilarious and tragic at the same time.

Nah, I've seen it already, they'll say that Rossi was the only one to win with a 500cc and a 4-strokes, or that he has a better record in the first 200 races than Marc (while ignoring the special tires and mediocre competition). Or they'll sprout some nonsense about the "emotional aspect" and his "impact on the sport" (Guess they mean those midpack riders using the bright yellow/green color scheme, and that's not a positive, it's a horrible color). It's a cult, and you can't never put sense in their heads.

You're part of the cult you're trying to act like you dispise. If you view Marquez as the greater talent, why do you spend so much of your time discussing Rossi when you could be talking about Marquez? Why is this forum infatuated with Rossi so much? It's clear that when starting a thread here, if you want maximum particpation, you need to make sure the topic revolves around Rossi. Make a Marquez thread and it's "OH, he's amazing, the best ever, so talent.... dead thread". Rossi is the rider that people want to talk about regardless of whether or not they like him or dispise him. Remove Rossi from the topics and this is a completely dead forum.

Hahaha, agree. They remind me of those flat earther types, they start at the conclusion "Rossi is the greatest" and then misconstrue, fabricate and cherry pick facts that only support this and reject anything and everything else that doesn't with excuses and fabrications.

Come to think of it they are quite creative, probably be very successful at writing children's books.

I'm actually seeing a reflection in that another cult has developed as it inevitably does and in this case, it's the anti-Rossi cult. It's a reflection of the the pro-Rossi blind fandom and in said fashion one can't seem to get any sense in them either. Both sides with the same name calling antics etc. Both rabid in their views. Both unpleasant ...

Rossi who. There was a nice fella by this name in 125cc, I really liked him. But then he disappeared and was never heard from again.

Ah .... it.

Try to stay away from many of the Rossi threads as I am someone who has never been a fan of the rider or the personality and have said so many times, copped abuse and in some social circles even been 'threatened' because of it but here goes.

Now, I will not attempt to denigrate his results as irrespective of whether he had better equipment, more mediocre opposition or any advantages the fact remains that he still has to finish the race in front of others to get the result ........... do I think he has had advantages - hell yes - but as I have said many many times, ALL of these guys want an advantage to make their job easier, he got it and used it and then was allowed to grow it.

Now, so many of us whinge and whine about the impacts and the favouritism I mention above but we also do not credit what he has bought to the sport.

Remove results but by his manufacturing the personality of a clown or a joking, always smiling and approachable, good for a laugh and only having fun type of rider he built an empire. That empire got more coverage which bought more fans and yes, increased his power in the sport via DORNA but it also attracted many new fans and businesses that were not previously involved.

These fans and businesses bought even more fans to the sport and the sport grew.

It now gets coverage in mainstream news in Australia as an example and certainly whilst Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan and Casey Stoner all got news coverage, when they were not newsworthy then it was Rossi. This was new as in Australia motorcycle Racing is the poorest cousin of the local club lawn bowls tournaments and gets no coverage and/or money, yet with Rossi's mention we got coverage.

On top of this, he is putting back to the sport and whilst yes it may be somewhat selfishly as he wishes to remain involved with the sport for what I believe are egotistical reasons the fact is he is using his money and influence to develop and grow the sport further. How the F can we be critical of that?

Without Rossi we would not have had riders needing to step up as so many have to challenge him and then beat him, all of these are riders we marvel at up to and including the freak of today that is Marquez/ Sure not all of these riders started the sport because of Rossi but many coming through would have as they idolised him and in years ahead we will be thanking his influence for these riders .

Look, for me I genuinely do not like the cult of personality and this is what we had with Rossi (and have with other riders) and for mine much of the yellow mass has disappeared so things are improving, but when we look at the dark side we also need to look at the light of what he has bought to the sport. Absolutely the growth is not all down to him by any means but the fact that he was able to get mainstream media coverage in countries where there was little or no coverage previously as well as use that personality to his advantages in business terms, should not be overlooked.

Sure, do not acknowledge all that he has done as positive as I will not, but credit where due.
