Rossi, Ducati rumours heat up

A small but crucial clue to the 2011 destination of seven time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi, and 2007 world champion Casey Stoner, looks to have been revealed.

According to an ‘undercover whisper’ reported by GPweek.com, mechanics on Stoner’s side of the Ducati Marlboro garage “have been warned that they may have to seek new employment for next season.”

That would imply that, as rumoured, Stoner is leaving the team - almost certainly for Honda - and also that Rossi and his group of mechanics, led by crew chief Jerry Burgess, are being lined up to take his place.

Rossi took Burgess, who has also won world titles with Mick Doohan and Wayne Gardner, and his mechanics with him from Honda to Yamaha at the end of 2003.

Indeed, the #46 has never raced in the premier-class without Burgess and his crew, and they are considered an essential part of any 2011 Rossi deal.

The Italian superstar, currently sidelined with a broken leg, hopes to be back in action for Fiat Yamaha in August.

Rossi’s team-mate Jorge Lorenzo now leads the championship by 37 points and, should Rossi move, Lorenzi is sure to remain an M1 rider for a fourth season in 2011.

Ducati, which has not taken a podium finish so far this season, would only state that they are talking to both Rossi and Lorenzo, with an announcement expected by the end of July.

JB was asked last night on ch10 - do you see yourself in a red shirt next year? - after meandering for while he replied "highly unlikely"

Highly unlikely means MAYBE, doesn't it?

if so that means if Rossi wants to leave Yam, they will go together.

It didn't sound anywhere near a "maybe", sounded more like he meant highly unlikely
<

It will be Lorenzo.

I don't think so - Lorenzo will win the WC and strengthen his bargaining position with Yamaha - more rights - move towards par position with Rossi .....

Rossi will be pissed and go to something Red - probably Ducati and JB will go with him - If JB says no to Ducati, then I would bet on Rossi driving 4 wheels

Wow, so it could be Nicky and Val again? I'm still not so sure about this, is Val really in the twilight of his career with only a few more seasons of competition left? Can Val talk JB into one more move? There are so many questions here, no one knows the answers, it's a wait and see game at the moment. The one thing I can gaurantee, end of the season will have many rider agents/representitives putting in long hours to get the deals done.

"ONE" world championship wont mean .... let alone being "PAR" anything with Rossi
<

i hope rossi goes to ducati! i would love to see him get his 8th championship on a 3rd mark..... now that would be something!!!

Maybe stoner caught all the mechanics gang banging is misses and has sais to ducati "if you want me to re-sign next year you got to sack the mechanic's that chain rooted my bird".

Remember the pic of Adriana in a short skirt with one of the mechanics giving her the lustful eye ?

Rossi aint going anywhere especially Ducati. This story like mine is just jurno ....

Can this really be classified as a rumor any more? Isn't it more like a lie the press continue to feed us so that we will buy their rags and click on their websites?

Par or not, Yamaha's going to be playing their cards close to the chest until Rossi gets on

a bike again and demonstrates that he is still competitive. They can't market him indefinitely.

If he doesn't bounce back in good form - they might well pay him a nice bonus and send him

to Ferarri.

from reading rossi's book, it was highly unlikely for him to go to yamaha during the 03 season. he was considering it BUT he was leaning more towards staying on honda because, as he said, there weren't really any competitive bikes out there. who knows? maybe they'll have a change of heart near the end of season.

first things first though, get healthy.

Actually he didn't say Highly unlikely.

Well i watched it by myself and he doesn't answer the question directly.

the reporter asked:

Would you Ever consider wearing Ducati red?

J.B answerd: Look that's a Hard one, but throwing back to Casey he wouldn't have to be worry of having a job in paddok.

and he politly refused to answer it Directly, but in his answer to the next question he answered: I still love what i,m doeing, where there i,d wear RED or not, depending on who i,m working for... but who knows Probably Unlikely

and i think that means a yes, he will wear Ducati red if he decides to.

I was curious since many people said that he wouldn't change another team and he will more likely retire if Rossi goes to Ducati.

That's what i mean with highly unlikely means Maybe.

he says it's a little chance, but not Impossible.

but not Impossible.

that's about what I got from it. But that means nothing at silly season, none of them have made their minds up yet ..... as JB said they will see what Casey does then everything will go from there.

I personally would love to see Rossi go Duc. without JB, it would disperse/disolve the Boppers like a melted ice cream in the rain, and GP would get back to racing not "Teeny Bopping"

There is an option that nobody is picking up on much. And given that JB has said everyone is watching what Casey will do, it kinda suggests Casey could go anywhere ...... including Yam.

So it could be ....... Stoner Rossi Yam JB gets wish ...... In which case its going to get even more "boring" as a Yam fest.

Lorenzo to Duc. ..... as they have already tried.
