Second, they are willing to pay to have the thing lighted, which is unique. The riders are not saying lets cancel, they are simply saying lets move up the time. Get a grip.

We're not going to agree - and for the record there is absolutely nothing racialistic behind my comments - certain parts of the world have a motorcycle racing culture and other parts like Qatar do not. I'm in favor of more races in those countries were the sport developed or is now actively followed and has large fan following. Qatar is ImO just for a bunch of wealthy elitests. Get the cost of racing down increase the number of races where the fans can get to them.

Its not about the spectators... or the wealthy elitests, its about the Euro 20m that the owners of the track pay to bring the circus to Qatar. Same with F1 to Abu Dhabi, or Bahrain.
Qatar actually wants to attract average punters, and foreign corporate sponsors to the race.
These GCC states are using these sporting events to bring people and media attention to their countries in a positive light, and to show that they are open, safe, and tolerant societies, and good places to visit or invest.
A big chunk of the money paid to Doma Sports goes to the teams, so there is financial benefit to all teams in racing in Qatar, and it just happens to be one of the best circuits in the world.

Don't loose sight of the fact that above everything, this sport is a business, for Doma, for the manufacturers, sponsors, promotors, track owners, TV rights holders, and the riders. The more money in to the sport, the better for everyone.

(Just for interest, the Euro 20m that Qatar pays for this event is equal to about one days revenue from one of their offshore gas fields - and they have about 18 fields in production - so they aint too worried about the cost).

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (chopperman @ Mar 24 2010, 05:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Rossi's quote was different from stoners though. Stoner said The track is damp at that time . Rossi didnt agree from what i read. He just said if they moved it to an earlier time it would be better for European viewing.

The reported substance that Rossi said did include more of a worry about TV times than Stoner talked of, however Rossi does mention Uncini, isn't he the track checking guy? Doubt he would be worried about TV times
<

SO obviously we have only snippits of what Rossi said, but the topic must have included an acceptance , by Rossi on the track situation or why would he have mentioned Uncini?

Not everyone can read.

Fewer can think.

Even fewer can take what they read about on the net and "get the whole picture", myself included.

Thats right, he is obliged to bring it to his attention once a rider complains about a safety issue, that's why he said he was going to contact capi because both are members of the safety council.

And to be fair i think any rider is obliged to bring it the the attention of the safety council if they feel there is a safety issue.

I had interpreted this as rossi (who didn't crash) supporting the concerns of others including stoner who did.

Welcome Michael... Although watch out because they will call you a Yellow Bopper! (Just joking!

From the OP:
"Reigning champion Valentino Rossi believes an earlier start time would be better for European television audiences anyway..."

I think, Rog, that Casey and Vale were saying the same thing... Vale just went one step further and was considering what tack he and Capper should take when they present the riders concerns to the powers that be.
