<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>The MotoGP world awaits the return to fitness of the many riders injured in the last few events, ahead of this weekend's German Grand Prix. Sete Gibernau (Ducati) and Toni Elias (Honda) are likely to return from injuries that forced them out of the last two races in Assen and Donington.
Gibernau broke his collarbone at Montmelo when he lost rear traction on the white line marking the pit exit, initiating the tumble that also saw team-mate Loris Capirossi and Marco Melandri miss the Catalan GP, with John Hopkins and Dani Pedrosa and Randy De Puniet also caught up in the mess.
Toni Elias came off during the practice session the following week in Assen, injuring his shoulder and preventing him from continuing theDutch TT also the final of the triple GP stint at Donington.
Describing every small bump like the stab of a knife, Capirossi went straight back to action after Barcelona and struggled his way to the last point in the Dutch TT with a courageous ninth at Donington.
Valentino Rossi also injured himself during the Dutch practice but struggled through the weekend with a fractured wrist and managed to finish eighth after starting at the back of the grid.
Donington one week later the seven time champion was still suffering but pulled out another gem for his fans, qualifying twelfth and roaring to second behind Dani Perosa to bring himself within 35 points of championship leader Nick Hayden for his pains.
Marco Melandri also struggled through Assen and Donington, but is on track for recovery after he went beyond the pain to complete the British GP podium.

well good news at last!!

Lets hope they perform ok.

I wouldn't expect too much from either of them....getting back on a GP bike after that amount of time will be tough for sure. Gibbers is going to be in some pain.....the guy I'm getting worried about is Cappy...can't seem to get back to his top level.....

Yeah, that means trouble.

Trouble for Him, trouble for Ducati, and trouble for bridgestone.

Cappa will be back, he's still recovering remember, you'd have to be... Rossi to still be competitive at this level!

Good to hear btw

Though we wish they have more time to rest and recover, it's still glad to hear that we'll finally be seeing these guys back at the grid

Same here, although i'd much prefer them ot rest a while, we can expect a no show for a while and it's probably best for them to have some time off.

Bar Melandri... lol.

Melandri's insane. In the best possible way. Its as if he doesn't feel pain. He races no matter what condition he's in, and races well.

Yeah, his Donnington performance was outstanding, I was even cheering him on more than Rossi!

The injuries Loris sustaned are internal injuries. It's not like you can massage, stretch or use injections to treat them. The other riders can use their adrenaline to push them through the pain but with adrenaline comes increased breathing...something Loris cannot do...
I am impressed with what he has been able to do but it will be a while longer before he will be 100%.

I just read at Crash that Melandri's been riding around with a broken collar bone and didn't know it. Richo's "Man of Steel" nickname certainly holds some water.

Agree 100%
his injury are worse then rossi's... are internal and he was injured to his chest before at PI so it's definatelly not well. The pain killers aren't working and the best recovery for him is rest, thing he coulnd't have until germany gp. So will see how he is after the practice sessions.
I belive he performed very well for it's condition and he's results can't be compared with Vale or Melandri performances - because the type injury they had is different.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE <div class='quotemain'>Capirossi chose to race on, despite his injuries, in order to keep his world championship hopes alive but - although the Italian was tied with Nicky Hayden before his fall - he is now fifth in the championship and 46 points from the Repsol Honda rider.

"I hope to be 80 to 90 per cent fit for the race at Sachsenring. I don't think I will be 100 per cent fit because my doctors told me I would need 30 to 35 days from the accident to fully recover," said Loris, 15th at Assen and ninth at Donington Park. "The problem is that the injury is internal, so it's impossible to work on it effectively and it doesn't really respond to pain-killing therapies. I am looking forward to being able to ride properly once again.

Gibbers has been given the all clear from a recent medical to race this weekend for those that were wondering.

He states that the shoulder has been recovering well and he has been working to get fit as fast as possible.

That I didn`t know, and I`m relived to know that there`s an explanation for Loris' results since the crash

Damn straight. The guy ranks up there with KRSR and Doohan when it comes to being a tough .......

Good luck for Sete coming back this race at Germany, hopefully he will do pretty well as he'll need a good race to boost his confidence level higher again.

Funny because in an interview he said...."damn my shoulder hurts"...."I can't figure out why".....it says something about the character of both Rossi and Melandri to be on the podium with tough injuries....

Rossi is the better rider, make no mistake. But the respect for Melandri is coming from the extent of his injuries. You know? True, he didn`t beat Rossi, but two weeks ago he was lying in Spanish gravel with people all over the world fearing the worst. Two weeks later he`s on the podium. With an unknown broken Collarbone. Rossi was riding injured too (and doing a bloody good job of it) but his injury was somewhat smaller in scale. I`m not saying Rossi couldnt have done the same thing if he was in Marco`s physical condition, that we'll (hopefully) never know. But the fact is Marco did it. I know, at least that my admiration for his performance at Donny is not coming so much from his riding, although it was outstanding, as from his threshold for pain. Rossi`s performance at donny, on the other hand, was reversed, sure there`s admiration for him being tough and riding under injury, but the main reason to be admiring his performance was the fact that he jumped 10 places to the podium, you know? So Rossi is still the most skilled rider on the grid, but now, I belive Marco can lay claim to being the toughest.
