Jonathan Rea, Britain's brightest young racing prospect, will make his MotoGP debut at Donington Park on June 24, riding a Honda-engined KR212V run by legendary triple world champion Kenny Roberts Senior.

Poor sod, his big chance and all he gets is that bag o' spanners.
At Le Mans everyone could hear it wasn't revving as highly as any other bike and it finally expired in front of us on the start/finish straight.Maybe Honda gave them the prototype motor to use.

Bad option.

Everyone's gonna think he's .... on that bag of crap.

Put him in Checa's seat for the race, then he might show how good he is.(or isn't)

Well Jonathan certainly has the right initials JR so there will be KRJR and now JR and if JR has kids then he could have JR Jr.

Is he going to be Curtis Roberts bike ?

and um how many laps did Curtis bike do at Mugello ?

I was looking for him from the start then he just fell off the screen and the next thing you know the bike is in the garage being worked on.

Ilmor should have stuck around even they could beat team Roberts !!

Yes it would be Kurtis' bike though really the team only has one bike (as in two bikes ie 1 for KR jr and JR will be riding the spare). So I really don't see how this is in anyway of any benefit and in qualifying they have to be really careful to not crash out, but hey ho. Their press stuff says they are going to redesign the bike so I suppose we have to wait and see if their modifications achieve anything. But it really would be ACE to have a Brit riding at Donnington.

He aint English... is he?

Well he's from a few miles up the road from me, in Northern Ireland. I'd say he's Irish but that can be be a bit contentious over here so how about Northern Irish, though I suspect he will be known as a British rider. All fine with me but it's confusing, isn't it.

.... I don't see how anyone can consider it a bad idea, evrybody knows what that KRV is like and the huge difficulty the team are having in getting the bike into some kind of shape that can see kenny have better results. Whatever happens it will get people talking about Jonathan, I'm sure some of them are already, now they get to see him, and especially at this time of year when teams who are shopping will be forming their final 'shortlists' of who they want to go and get. If JR gets that thing anywhere near the top ten he'll be a hero. Put him on Checa's or Barros' bike and too much will be expected of him. Which is better?

Personally I think any rider as talented as JR should get into motoGP asap, even disregarding a year in WSBK. I just think a year in GP's learning the tracks and getting used to the travelling and the different paddock/team vibe would be a year better spent than one chasing a WSBK title.

it'll get him out there & thats a start! can only be a good thing.

Yeah true, not everyone gets to show off on the best bikes like Vale and the likes of the factory riders.........some people have to work a bit harder and lets face it Gibbers (though never won a championship) started out on a KR didn't he?

Well to be fair to Gibbers he always seemed to flatter the bikes he was on even if they were inferior, his performances with a then backmarker Suzuki, Valencia 2001 is a race I'll never forget, brilliant ride. And then the nearly-win in Estoril 2002, got me believing he had a world championship in him. Shame there was an afro-haired Italian with other ideas..

Anyway, hopefully if he shows promise it'll convince Red Bull to start a MotoGP team. Hell, they've got two F1 teams. So why not?
