rd3 Le Mans... picks, practice & qualy...possible SPOILERS!

Nicky in 7th at his bogie track in FP1. I guess I shouldn't be too worried, eh?

So much for the Honda crisis ........ everybody go suckered into believing.

Yamaha-best bike on the grid

Honda-very close 2nd best bike on the grid

Ducati-just a bit better than Suzuki, difference being they (Ducati) have better riders.

Spies in 8th is great considering he's never bee to La Mans. He will improve.

Is there a reason Suzuki is not running the "Rizla" logo on bikes? (Its not banned in France right?)

EDIT: According to commentator its France ban. But here is another question, why is it that Ducati don't have the familar bar code. Did the Frenchies ban that too? Have the Frenchies decided that the bar code is a "subliminal" brand of Marlboro? If so, they why do the riders still get their bar code on leathers. WTF, somebody?

The Ducatis have also dropped the barcode logo, in part due to France's strict interpretation of the anti-tobacco advertising guidelines. The same rules have also struck the Suzukis, the Rizla logos being forced off the bike, replaced with a frankly gorgeous plain paint job with a large white number on the side of the bike.

This is ........! When people Drop loads of cash to advertise! They shouldn't be censored by Governments

Suzuki plus Stoner equals two positions higher than Suzuki plus Capper. Suzi plus Nicky, no change. The Duc is quite a bit better than the Suzi...

Stoner still having issues with the front end tucking in. But Haystack - not so much. Hmmm.

...some of the posts regarding tirs (tyres) may have been on the mark perhaps

"The worry I have with the fundamentals of the Ohlins is that they were from Yamahas and the Bridgestones when the mono-tyre came in - they were tyres that were made around [Valentino] Rossi's Yamaha... so it's been hard."

Stoner was on soft tires all practice. Rossi and lorenzon were on hard tires.

If so ( I think he may have had a soft rear) and they are running this in the race it certainly indicates a change for stoner and that the big bang bike is different.

It may simply indicate that ground temperatures are rather low at Le Mans in May.

I think i recall seeing the bar code on Ducs last year at La Mans, so is this a new interpretation of the French nanny law?

V & Mick, u must not hav seen the practice, had u then u mite realize thar Duc handles like ..... Certainly third best bike, mayb equal to Suz. Eliminate Stoner, which has always skewed Duc and u still hav a .... bike. Open ur eyes.

Apparently both crashed. I don't know if they are injured or whether they have to salvage the engines or something.

Apparently Spies had a high side and was immediately clutching to his knees. He was carried away in a stretcher but later the news came that he was deemed ok by the medical center.

The Marlboro teams....MotoGP and F1 have been accused of having subleminal messages/images in the barcode livery on the bike/car. The european government has cracked down on this. Ducati argued that this is not a Marlboro design , but their own and Ducati did not even run the Marlboro name on the bike at Qatar round where they were allowed to do so.

It is just another way to push around the tobacco sponsors. I wonder if the government would make up for the lost money if Big Tobacco said "screw it, we are out" I dont think Marlboro needs racing for brand recognition anymore.....the bikes and cars dont even say Marlboro anymore so what is the point???

It is funny that you can race in GP events at age 15 and up....it is televised and a major event for race weekend. You can't advertise tobacco on the bikes, but they will gladly take the money from those companies for sponsorships, track testing fees, permits and taxes. Both racing and smoking are dangerous choices made by the individual, but the racer is glorified and the smoker is shunned. The racer is legal and the advertising is not.

Poor little Alvaro went down hard! im sure he was hurting as it was, but that high side didnt help at all. Hopefully he'll be able to race sunday. I didnt see Mika's crash

On live timing it looked like the last few laps Stoner and Lorenzo were right together on the track. Who was following who?

There's one good thing about banning cigarette advertising: first thing I thought when I saw the Ducati's out in FP1 was "Wow, the Cagiva is back!" (to me, that was the best looking 500cc ever). Better still with Nicky and Casey following each other closely on track. Nice formation flying. Sweet!

Can't provide any hard figures but the commentators are saying that the track surfaces are

substantially higher than in previous years causing Bridgestone to configure the tire

composition in anticipation of cooler temperatures as experienced in previous seasons

when there have been on and off rain to cool the track surface.

Stoner passing Espargaro (who was moving like a snail) and he gives Esparagaro

the classic Italian va fangole fist in the air, telling him to get the .... off off the racing line.
