Look behind you....
Who are the racers of days gone by who you admire most and idolise? Either drivers/riders who have passed away, or haven't raced for ages, such as Stirling Moss.

My top three:
1) WRC - Richard Burns - Passed away last year, but really was the reason I got into rallying and motorsport in general. He was the sportsman most people can only ever hope to be, not just as a driver, but as a person, he really was something special. He died last november aged 33 from a brain tumour. He was always seen as an optimistic and cheerful guy, even when things didn't go his way.
2) F1 - Ayrton Senna - Nothing I can really add that you don't already know. He was a phenomenal racer, and to have been killed by something as minor as the steering column loosening is just a tragedy. Again, a phenomenal racer and man.
3) 500CC - Barry Sheene - The guys will to continue, to keep fighting and keep racing despite his injuries really was something incredible. I doubt we will ever see someone with that kind of stamina and determination again in our lifetimes.

What about you?

The guys I idolize are pretty much all the guys around right now as I wasn't old enough to experience some of the legends. I idolize guys like Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden and Michael Schumacher. Of course I keep a place in my heart for the guys of old, King Kenny, John Surtees, Barry Sheene, Giacomo Agostini, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Gardner, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, Mick Doohan, Aryton Senna, Damon Hill, Mikka Haakonen and so on and so forth.

KRSR. He was tough, real tough. He rode like an animal, and his attitude was great. Very no ........ type.
Then probably Sheene. His antics and Charisma made him the Rossi of the 70s.
Doohan was awsome too. His leg cuda fallen off halfway through a race and he`d still finish.

Will Hartog. I hear great stories from my dad about him, how he won the TT and being called the "de witte reus" (white giant) and stuff. I've met him at franchorchamps last year, realy nice man.

a bit off-topic: Will Hartog has driven in a car on the new TT circuit a couple of days a go, he thinks the changes are going to give more over-taking actions. yesterday hugo van de berg (you know, dutch boy in the 125cc) won the first race on the new track in the 125cc EK race.

Ayrton Senna was my all time favourite F1 driver

I was a big Carloz Sainz fan in the rallying

I think my GP rider would have to be Rossi as i didnt watch it when the likes of Doohan and Sheene were racing but i always liked Foggy in the superbikes

Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, Mick Doohan & Miguel Duhamel are my motorcycle heroes.
Michael Schumacher, Mario Andretti, Colin McCrae & Richard Burns are my car heroes.

i can appritiate great talent when i see it, and all the above were & are very talented. gods amonst mere mortals, at least on the track, but i've never been much of a hero worshiper.

he's had a bit of stick on here drill but he got the crowds in plus he's from the same town where i was born

Yeah, a bit of Stick is an understatement. I dont think anyones got a problem with his racing. Nothing short of superb. Its his mouth and attitude that piss people off

Hmm lets see. I've wached since i was a very litlle girl F1 and I remember Senna' races and that I cried a lot when my brother sayed to me that Senna died. I was so sad then. After that my hero in f1 is Michael Schumacher ( I have to admit that I was influenced by my brother in chosing them- he was supporting the same pilots so it was easy for my)
In motogp I like Loris Capirossi and Dani Pedrosa, becouse I haven't got the chance to watch the legends - or to fint out to o many things about them- to young to see them and sadly there is no interest in this sport from the televisions here. Lucky I've got Eurosport -my only chance to watch moto racing. F1 is more popular sport here but I hope once Robert Muresan will become a permanent rider in 125cc maybe thing will start to move. All I know about famous riders I know from internet and from some documentarys i've found and from the movie Faster first one i think.

barry sheene cus hed got guts and liked the women

Hands down, Mick Doohan.
always has been always will be.
someone who has done what he has and is still alive deserves to be idolised ...
i get really pissed off when people call themselves an aussie and don't know who the Mighty Mick Doohan is ... its like calling yourself italian and not knowing Valentino Rossi .... idjits
