Quartararo in, Rossi out.

After seeing the interview with Vinales and reading between the lines one could conclude Vinales actually said following.

I was ready to leave for Ducati. However, after summer break Yamaha finally started listening to me. (This was probably because Quartararo was showing what Yamaha can do without Rossi "development".) This year I was told Rossi is a goner and this changed my mind and I'm staying, looking forward finally to accomplish something.

MotoGP rookie Fabio Quartararo has been upgraded to a 2019-spec Yamaha for his debut premier class season with the newly-formed Petronas SRT outfit.

The Petronas squad, which replaces Tech3 as Yamaha's B-team in 2019, had originally planned to put Moto2 graduate Quartararo on a 'B-spec' year-old bike this season.

But a late decision was made by Yamaha to supply its satellite operation with two 2019 machines for its first MotoGP campaign They had the exact same bike !

Jeepers. It's a good thing I watched it for myself.

Rossi: "My impression is that MotoGP is now important for Yamaha, in the last two years it had been a little less."

Rossi is apparently hinting Yamaha should have booted him two years ago?

A sign that Quattarro has reawakened Yamaha’s competitive spirit?
