As was already said, this weekend marks the return of road racing for 2006 with the opening round of the World Superbike Championship from Qatar. With plenty of movement on the grid, who ya got? I have to say fresh from MotoGP and 2001 WSB Champion Troy Bayliss. He's been quick all of testing, is familiar with the track and is used to competing at a higher level. I think Bayliss, Haga and Lanzi will be the fastest men all weekend.

Bayliss takes both wins, Haga, Lanzi and Corser get podiums. Bayliss or Haga for superpole.
In SS, Charpentier, Parkes or Foret for wins. Look out for Gobert, though.

I think the wins will be between the Troys (is it such a common name down there???)

But I'll support kawa riders Nieto, Walker & Laconi and Xaus. I'm not sure if Xaus is racing yet, last time I saw him he was using crutches.

its gotta b the 2 troys with haga making life a ....... for them ifffff he can stay the pace..
no 1 giving barros a chance then i take it?

Yeah, it's the "Battle of Troy"
Is Xaus on a Kawa? How come no-one told me?
Kawasaki's starting to get an impressive line-up in SBK. Hopefully the ZX10R will be on the pace to back these riders up. IMO it's the best 1000cc bike, dunno why they're not on the Podium

because it's not the best 1000cc bike.

No, Xaus is on a private Ducati, my fault, poor use of puntuation.

The Kawa is the best 1000cc road bike, problem is WSBK machines are far from road bikes.

This from the "Unbiased" big shiny Fireblade owner?

Who won master bike 2 years in a row? Who came last in master bike this year?
Teo's right. The 10R's the best stocker, but a Superbike is far from stock.

From what I've read the GSXR1000 has been the best liter bike for the past two years. Also, the Kwaks should be improving this year. I've read the Kawasaki factory is going to help develop their superbikes. Akira Yanagawa was in the states testing with Tommy and Roger Lee Hayden about a week ago.

The K5's only the best because every journalist in the world says so, and because Corser and Mladin won championships on heavily modified versions. Honesty I think the new Gixxer is hyped up. A gret bike, no doubt, but I think some "Enthusiastic" journalists with a bias towards the "Great big bore Suzuki!" have worked it up to a point where its considered the kig of the class, when, in reality, the ZX10R has been proven to be the fastest overall.

Hey hey hey! I rode a ZX9R.... once.... for about 200m...... below 4000 rpm.
<

Ok, you got me frosty. The biggest bike I've really fanged is a 750. Even then I only took it to 100mph. Those big buggers are a lot harder to throw into corners and hang off the side with your knee getting gravel rash, too. I like my little 250.... for now
<

Yeah, I re-read that master bike article and the Suzuki set up guy were pretty disorganised, and from what I've read the Honda is a very well-mannered bike, albiet not as hard-hitting, but mate, if you can really use all the 150+ horsepower your beast has got, you should be lining up next to Bayliss and Corser in Qatar.
To mere mortals like us, 5hp or 10kg weight difference is impossible to notice on bikes like that.

I'd still buy 10 Kawas before setting foot in a Honda dealer though

Honda and Ducati until I die. And I ride a Kwaker.
