I don't think anyone has ridden better than Stoner did in 2007 and 2011, particularly 2007 if as appeared to be the case in retrospect the bike was actually quite difficult rather than a bike which rode itself as was the narrative at the time. If Dovi could challenge MM somewhat I don't see why Stoner couldn't have. I am a Stoner tragic obviously, but always liked Shuehi Nakamoto's take that MM had faster reflexes, but Casey was a genius on a bike, although that was before most of MM's 6 premier class title wins riding for HRC.I am Australian and yes Stoner was awesome.
Despite that, I've seen Marquez repeatedly do stuff Stoner did not with the front end of a motorcycle.
Marquez was too strong and too hungry and would have had the best of Stoner too.
Yes it would have been good to watch at times but the end result is predictable in Marc's favour imo.
Only for an individual season though, Stoner had to really wind himself up to ride like that, no way could he have sustained it over the many seasons MM did let alone coped with everything thrown at MM outside of the races as MM managed to do.
