play or stay away

the news is that in 2007 there will be no 125 or 250 race again because motogp is to be hosted alongside ama.
so should we stay and play regardless
or
stay away unless they host the full motogp line up i.e 125s & 250s

should have been a poll but i buggered it up
<

I think it's nice to have a change, but we do't get to see any of their races.
<

It's interesting to have a full 4 stroke weekend, I can't imagine 125 or 250's there either, it just doesn't click in my head.

are they using AMA to draw the crowds for Moto GP ?
<

If they are then I dare say there's a 'time' issue but if not - I don't follow the logic there.

All or nothing I say - I'd love to see the 125's & 250's going throught the corkscrew - it would be wild

Found it: 153,653 in 2005 over 3 days.

Good, but not enough to warrant a second US GP methinks?

yeah your right.... just slightly better than the attendance at qatar & china.

Sorry, but were you being sarcastic? Doesn't come across as well on the internet.

I was pointing out that although it seems like a large number, I saw on the eurosport feed for the 06 race that the attendance was 60,000, for race day. This sounds good (and is!), but compare that to Donny 05 when it was soaking wet which had in the region of 70,000, and further still 150,000 just for race day at places like sachsenring.

Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick bud.

Hey, I just got a PM that someone is being offensive here on this thread. Please boys, keep it light. No need for sarcasm, disrespect, or a vindictive attitude.

I am definitely NOT going to the GP to watch AMA SBK... 1) I don't likey the ppl who rule AMA.. like what King Kenny says.. 2) I don't get to see the other boys... eg Lorenzo, Kalio, Bautista, Dovizioso...etc.. while no one will go up to them.. I know I will!

To pay over 200 in tickets and passes alone just for Pedrosa, Capirossi, Nakano, Stoner, Checa, Barros, Melandri, and maybe Rossi's autograph just isn't worth my time nor money.

The only reason daily attendance is limited to 60,000 is because Laguna Seca literally cannot hold any more spectators, many fans are actually denied ticket sales.

You are spoiling my fun.

I think you forgot Hayden. You know, the World Champ. (Or maybe you already got his autograph)

Didn't know that. Is it a fire hazard thing? Where did you get this info? It seemed to me that there were more than 60K on Sunday. I think it was anounced as a 90K attendance for that day alone.

I realize GP is the top, but racing is racing. Of national series, I think the AMA is perhaps one of the best and most competetive (BSB is great to but I don't get to watch it, but I would if I could). Its to bad, cuz I think if you took some time to check out a few races you might become a fan.

i camped out at Laguna for the 05 race... there was over 90,000 for Sunday alone...not including the 3 people i snuck in.

The US is pretty big (check out a map). Its not like most European counrties where the track is literally a few hours away no matter where you live in that counrty. From NY to LA its over 3000 miles (multiple 1.6 for Kilometers). So its not exactly like you can roll out of bed and make it to the race. Give the spectators some credit for making the 2-3 day trip just to get to the track, then spend another 2-3 days at the event, only to have another 2-3 days to get back home. I think if there were two GPs, maybe one further east, that you would find a large audience to rival any from Europe.

In my experiences, advance ticket sales have been cut off at around 50,000 to 60,000 for each day. I don't know how race day numbers could be at 90,000, I've never seen official ticket vendors at the gates.

I'd love to watch them blast it around Laguna!

Those guys should be able to race there, and i'm sure it's a privelige taken away from them.

is the real reason they dont have 250 and 125 at laguna becuse there are a limited number of race days allowed at laguna, so in order to have a motogp there they must also run ama superbike aswell, so there would not be enough time for all classes.

i dont know this for fact i just recall hearing something to this effect during last years commentary.

I think its because they are two-stroke engines. They don't sell in the US. Race on Sunday and sell on Monday is very important here. Check it out and I think you will find that this is the real reason.

Interesting. I've been able to buy tickets at the gate for some last minute guys that wanted to see the race many times. I know they do limit much stuff on the website like padock passes, parade lap, suits, etc, but didn't know they limit general admission. I'll have to check it out.

Never doubted that they would bring the support classes. I knew all long they wouldn't.

But to suggest that it may not be worth comming to see it indicates to me you have never been there. Its a blast of a weekend everyday. I hope you can make it out sometime and I can have the priviledge to show you around. I think you would become a fan. Hell I even think you might even put Nicky Hayden and Laguna Seca as your favorites!
