Phillip Island MotoGP Testing

Lorenzo still fourth overall, but agree the tyres may have been tweeked to suit others.

personally I think Marquez will do everything he can this year to beat Rossi in every race, that's his motivation. That might play into lorenzos hands.

We just need a bloke who can ride on any tire......stoner

Well Stoner mostly thrived on the Bridgestone hard tyre, a prime motive for Dorna to organise the withdrawal of that tyre in 2012 imo, but seemed to be adjusting to other tyres later that year prior to his crash at Indy, and the lack of that tyre did not seem to hamper him much at PI 2012.

Actually Jorge being shafted in favour of Rossi is perhaps one thing which might motivate Stoner to make a full return, if there was a chance of him being competitive on a Ducati of course.

Between issues with the new rubber and new electronics, there's bound be to a lot more sorting out to do for all riders. So many factors that cross affect each other that it could potentially be three or four races before we really begin to get a sense of who's going to be the dominant rider this year. Michelin is probably still working round the clock fine tuning the front tires. If lap times are slower or crashes more prevalent this year they're going to look like .....

We also cannot forget that this was Michelin's first trip to the Island for a number of years and as we know from recent history, PI has some unique requirements of tyres plus with it being wet for the majority, there are a lot of factors that complicate the picture.

Here's the top 50 laps from the 3 days for you Pov:

I knew what you were getting at before I even finished your post! ;)

Petrucci has fractured his right hand, is doubtful for the Qatar tests..bugger.

50 lap chart shows lots of Suzuki. Only 2 in top 50 for Lorenzo, is that right? Can I say that tire change was detrimental to Jorge in a big hurry. Tire conspiracy? Of course not, it just coincidence. Right? The .... happens right in front of our faces, but 'it's not the oil stupid.'

Sucks for Petrucci. Given he is not a factory rider, little to no chance he'd be replaced by Stoner. And before you get your hopes up JP, given Stoner is set to test at Qatar, Michele Pirro is the contracted replacement rider.

Fascinating analysis there Kancer, please do tell us more.

Cuntslow doing what he does best.

But it does look like putting heavy loading on the front is going to require the bike to be more upright going into turns. Kind of interesting how there is no warning whatsoever.

Was said by someone at the track (posted by a flaggie in a different forum) that the track temp dropped significantly at the time (based on ambient air temp) and suddenly we had a crash fest.

Was reported that MM's Lukey Heights crash ended with bare skin visible through the elbow of the leathers and then Lorenzo crashed at the same spot

The picture of VR at the top of the hill coming around the corner is awesome. It would be much better with any other driver but it is a really cool picture. Is there the same picture with somebody else?
