I think both the last two posts tell bits of the true story ......... the Australian round attracts so little money and spectators.

The silly thing is I reckon they could do a back to back two weekend thingo with MGP and SBK and make more maney in the end.

Do we even need a race in Australia?

We need another race in Dorna the explora land Spain methinks.....

Bring back Eastern Creek !!

A third Italian race at Monza, somebody would actually turn up for that.

Some of you people have no idea what you are talking about. The crowds at PI are always excellent.

The race also has a contract until 2016

Sometimes the weather is fantastic & sometimes it isn't - get over it.

Try research

Yes sorry. I had thought I'd read 2012 but was wrong.

I didn't know when the contract was up either, but assumed it was soon or carmelo wouldn't be making these noises. I think the F1 contract may be up after 2012.

The problem in the long-term is ce seems keen to follow bernie's example in F1, and not to care about the strength of local support, crowds at the venue, the venue/circuit itself, the tradition of the sport in the country, but rather packaging the sport for the media, and the race time for live viewing is a big factor for bernie anyway, and governments prepared to pay for the events is a major consideration as well. Dorna seem quite happy about holding the qatar event at midnight with no local crowd, despite concerns from the riders about tyre temperatures and conditions at night etc. I still think hayden fan is right, and that there is more chance of the race being transferred to another country rather than another venue in austaralia when the contract is up. By the sound of things perhaps fortunately dorna will be gone by then, as they are apparently trying to sell up currently.

I was of that opinion, however with all this talk ....... I had the general feel that Dorna was going to find an "out" with the contract.??

I know it sounds odd, but it is MGP and some contracts seem to mean little, especially if Dorna wants a change.

They are, and they have announced it publically.

All the posturings by the little dictator suggest that if the dates are not moved to meet the desires of Herr Ezpeleta, than the track will not be homologated and thus not be able to hold an international MGP event.

Thus, by extension there out clause could be argued that DORNA have not broken their contract but have instead found 'issues' that prevent the circuit being homologated and therefore it is 'unsafe' for the race to be held.

Lets face it! Dorna doesnt give a .... about the fans or the venues that hold the races.

Their only concern is the money from television rights.

This has been proven time & time again! Most recently in the UK by running the GP concurrently with the I.O.M road race

It's sometimes best to check your facts before making such inaccurate statements.

Check the attendance figures for PI. It's bigger than most soccer derbies.

Even when the weather is unpleasant, there are still decent crowds.

Would the FIM homologate the circuit rather than Dorna. And if it is the FIM then surely that would impact the WSBK as well as the FIM oversee both events. How could they deem a fault with the circuit for MotoGP but it be ok for WSBK.

I think PI should call the bluff and tell Rossi's agent to piss off.

Well I don't know what a soccer derby is, or gets for attendance, but over here the Local football grand final gets somewhat more than PI gets in attendance.

A soccer derby is two teams from a very close locality facing off. eg Man U & Man City the other day. Or Southampton & Portsmouth (<30 klms apart)

Regarding any soccer match getting a higher atttendance than MotoGP - so? I hate soccer but love motor racing. It's a minority sport - live with it.

PI gets an as good or better attendance figure than many other MotoGP tracks around the world.
