THERE AND BACK AGAIN!
Lil Red's story!
Chapter one the journey North and beyond!
Well it was friday morning about 6am when I went loaded the red rocket and got her started,
I got about 5 mins into the journey and reallised I'd left my wallet at home, about turn to retrieve it, fuggin ....., what a start!
Anyways got underway and the motorways were been kind letting me rest the lead foot on the peddle (fully down).
In what seemed like no time I was at newcastle and about to start the drive through the northumbrian mountains,
I'd actually been on the road 2 hrs.
So hit the A696, not bad, But then I discovered the A68 OMG! Driving heaven!!!
Drivers and riders alike will love this road!! pure untouched smooth tarmac to die for.
the road has it all, twisties to test ya and straights where I was pulling 120mph at times in my diesel estate!
But more about that in and back again
So I hit the Scotland boarder!
Stop get out of the car, think fcuk it's cold and get back in the car, onwards.
So still carving up this glorious tarmac, mile after mile of it!
I was like a pig in .... and loving every minute,
But as with all good things I hit Edinburgh and funtime is over (for now)
Now no journey can be any good without a fcuk up and here came the northern one!
I mistakenly took a wrong turn and gave myself about a 40 mile detour that wasn't needed.
After a check of the map soon back on track and heading up the M90 (not the M9, that was the mistake) and onto the A9
Oh the A9!!! Another great drivers road!!!
Admittedly the tarmac is a little rougher but there is no fcuker on the roads up there and again everything you could want,
I swear if I had the time I would go up with a decent car think sports 4-500 bhp and do some times against myself.
But the one advantage over the A68 is no speed cameras.
So Avimore and I need fuel, just under a quater of a tank left and 380miles clocked.
Stop fuel drink carry on!
Soon hit Inverness and the end is in sight
Pass by Glenmorangie's distillery and onto thurso, 10 more mins and dropping down into scrabster harbour for my ferry to the island.
I had a couple of hours to kill but first I needed a pish soo bad, I'd carried it from yorkshire lol.
Had a few beers in the pub (popeyes) in the harbour and went for the ferry.
Hour and half later on the Orkneys and a familiar voice saying you okay phill.
The Rocket had landed!
Man hugs and back to Petes for beer and Superpole!
To be continued................
