Two years ago at Assen it was Nicky Hayden who benefitted from Colin Edwards´ last lap bad luck as the Texan rider crashed and the Repsol Honda man went on to take a simple victory in his title winning year, but in the 2008 edition of the race on Saturday the roles were reversed.

I agree. He is probably significantly heavier than okada and the other test riders as well, and his riding style which it would seem is suited to the characteristics of the new engine probably alters fuel consumption too. I thought nicky's performance was very promising, and as I said on another thread the pneumatic yamaha engine had fuel consumption problems initially last year which led to them canning it till this year. I wouldn't think it would take much adjustment to get the honda pneumatic lump to go for another 100 yards with nicky on the bike next race.

also the honda electronics are not as good as ducati's in this area. the ducati runs out on the parade lap not the last lap of the race.

Not that I think it was fuel related, but the cause of casey stoner's dnf a few races ago appears to remain shrouded in mystery, with ducati not committing to anything other than that it was a technical fault with the engine. Rumours abound that they have changed the engine substantially since then; I think you said one commentator claimed they had changed back to the 2007 engine. Perhaps that engine does have a secret fuel reservoir

In all seriousness, I do think that the power the ducati develops under the current fuel restrictions is their most significant advantage. They have always seemed to have powerful engines since joining four stroke motogp racing though.

Well what with Curve's claim that Pedrosa is cheating because he ain't no lardboy and the fact that Hayden almost made it the full distance ........ we may actually see Pedrosa on the pnuemo honda sooner than expected. Takes a lot more fuel to tow a lardo around than Pedrosa .......
If Hayden is going faster on it now too then imagine how quick Pedrosa will be

Maybe you need to find a series of something with a lot of "normal sized guys" in it racing around ..... it seems a very important criteria for you ..... indeed you are constantly going of about a "normacy" of physical size ....... to the point that I now have visions of you as like that woman in that "gilbert Grape" movie
