cliff notes:
-Nakagami hasa contract with HRC for 2020
-Zarco still not confirmed as his substitute for the final 3 rounds
-only remaining seat is a KTM.

if (BIG IF) Lorenzo and Honda were to part ways, could Lorenzo/KTM experiment be on the horizon?

Given Lorenzo’s ability/timeframe to adapt to different bikes I doubt it. Lorenzo and Zarco both favour the L4 Yamaha bike, probably one of the reasons Zarco struggled to get his head around the KTM, I don’t think Lorenzo would be any different on the KTM in that regard.

Mind you it would be extreme entertaining, KTM got offended by mild mannered Zarco’s comments on their bike... could you imagine how they would react if Lorenzo told them what he really thought.

keep in mind that Lorenzo has recent experience on both the top Honda and top Ducati, and can take some of that riding knowledge to KTM on a bike that is also a V4.... there are no other options for Lorenzo, and KTM already has plenty of young riders.

He does, but his experience with the V4 Ducati hasn't really helped his Honda transition immensely, not yet anyway. He had success on the Ducati but so have many other riders, Ducati has a relatively strong package which KTM don't. KTM also seem inpatient given their early criticism of Zarco when he didn't produce results for them immediately. In comparison Lorenzo took a full season and then some to get results on the Ducati, which looks to be taking even longer at Honda if he does eventually manage to get towards the pointy end of the field.

I could be wrong but I don't think KTM would see Lorenzo's struggles at Honda and his time required to get up to speed as a strong point for putting him on the books, but who knows with KTM?

If Honda did drop Lorenzo It would be interesting to see who they would replace him with? Zarco is a possibility depending on how he goes in the last three rounds.

Interesting (BIG IF).

Yes, Lorenzo is looking very much like yet another who has had his career wrecked by Valentino/allowed his career to be wrecked by Valentino. He should have stayed at Yamaha which I am sure would have been better for Yamaha, results-wise at least, for these last 3 seasons as well.

At least he and Stoner unlike some others enjoyed considerable success and are highly rated regardless I guess.

I still think its highly unlikely that Honda drops Lorenzo, but the only place for him to go is KTM. would it be a winning combination, probably not. could they learn something from each other, possibly. but it does work from a marketing stand point, because he is a former world champion, and you can sell that.

Now that Nakagami has resigned and Zarco is confirmed for the final 3 rounds. I’m really interested in seeing how Zarco goes on the Honda. The Honda and KTM are both claimed to be physically demanding bikes that reward aggressive riding styles. The speed at which Zarco gets up to speed with the Honda would be a good indication of how much more/less user friendly the Honda is compared to the KTM.

Had me confused there for a minute. You mean re-signed.

Oooops ..... Yep, definitely re-signed.

I tell ya, posting while on night shift on a small iPhone screen with bloody sausage fingers takes real skill to just work the auto correct, and I thought I was doing well
