MotoGP Video Pass

Have cancelled BT Sport, as my contract is up next week and I only have it for MotoGP, and am considering switching to the Video Pass. Have got the app on Roku and it seems to work well, which is an improvement on how it worked when steaming via my iPhone or iPad via Chromecast.

I would miss the BT Sport team, as I really enjoy Gav, Neil, Sylvain, MLav, Suzi and Nat. But the video pass costs less than half of what a BT Sport subscription would for a year. It also has an archive of thousands of videos available to watch on demand.

Has anyone else got Video Pass and any comments about it?

I have it. The commentary is currently doing my head in.
It's clunky. For such an expensive app, it's pretty shocking. I can't put the app on my samsung tv so I have an hdmi cable direct from the laptop on the floor.
Quality - when it's good, it's excellent but far too often it's sketchy.
Races should be available on the spoiler free page 1 hour after the end of the race - that's a bit hit and miss. Quality of live is generally ok.

You can select from multiple camera feeds so you can watch the whole thing from an onboard if you want. Or a 360 and look around lol
There are a few different streams on live so if you do get one that looks like it's underwater, switching to another usually works.

It's expensive. But not as expensive at BT Sport once you take all the Sky or BT into account. You might be dismayed with the commentary and lack of buzz stuff. Simon Crafar does the tech reporting and is fantastic but jeez, he takes a bit of getting used to. The 2 in the commentary box... not my favourites and I don't know if it's just because I'm not well this year, but I think they are worse than ever.

You can rewatch any race pretty much from history. We usually watch a few seasons over winter. We did 2013 to 2015 this winter. We almost always watch some 2009.

Thanks for the informative response. That is much of what I have read before. BT Sport do great coverage, but it’s expensive and you’re basically paying for football etc on top of it and I don’t watch any other sports really.

It's hard, and I think MotoGP suffers as a sport from it. It's just a balance and everyone has to find the spot they are most comfortable with.

I’ve had Sky Sports and BT Sport for years and I used to watch football, cricket and golf. But these days I just watch MotoGP, WSBK and BSB. I would watch MotoAmerica too, but it’s on the Eurosport Player and that was one subscription too many.

I have the Video Pass. I watch it on my PC which is fine with me. Due to time differences I don't watch live but I have no complaints about the feed. Right now I do not have a laptop to connect to my TV with an HDMI cable but when I get a laptop I'll definitely try that. I enjoy watching practice and qualifying so I really like the video pass.

How long after the sessions are the recorded videos available, do you know?

Looks like I can get BT Sport for just £17 a month, which also includes Eurosport for WSBK and BSB. The Eurosport Player app is awful apparently, so would rather not have to get that.

Total cost of BT Sport would be £204 for a year, while the video pass is €199.99 for a year and doesn’t include WSBK and BSB, which would be another £7.99 a month I think.

Looks like BT Sport might be the better value.

I buy Video Pass half way through the season at a discount, then watch the rest of the races on my laptop. I also go back and watch the first half races as time permits (usually over the winter months when there is snow on the ground here in the Toronto area). If the discounted Video Pass option was discontinued I would no longer use Video Pass but would seek other options (or just forget about watching the races altogether).

As an aside, I have attended just one MotoGP race in my life, in 2019 my wife and I took a vacation in Spain and went to the Valencia race sitting in corner 2. We ended up on the hill for a better view and never went back to our seat. I find watching the race using Video Pass much better and cheaper. Was impressed by all the oranges being grown in the area btw, Spain was a wonderful country to visit and we will go back.

Valencia is a fantastic track to visit for fans. The track is easy enough to get to and you can see most of it from the stands. Also, the city is lovely. Plus, titles are often decided there. Would very much recommend it.
