Did you miss the race last year? Stoner can't even stay on track at Jerez. I've still got the gravel dust in my eyes from him binning it in turn 6 with no riders around him. And this is the track where I realized how fast he is. Stoner will be lucky to crack the top 3 @ Jerez. He woulda finished 5th on a good day. He's amazing, but the track doesn't suit him at all.

Fair point that he did badly last year, but there was something drastically wrong with the ducati at that stage leading it is rumoured to ducati eventually reverting to the 2007 engine. The impetus for the carbon fibre chassis was also presumably to improve the handling for these tight european tracks. Whilst I would not favour stoner to win the motogp race at jerez this year, I will be astonished if he can't crank out a lap faster than fifth in testing.

i think stoner will be quickest in the test, i think ducati are onto something with the carbon fibre...rossi will be 2nd just a few hundreds off stoner ....lorenzo 3rd...edwards 4th....hayden 5th...dovi 6th

Agreed. I don't think last year was about Stoner not being good at Jerez, but with Ducati having significant problems at that point of the season.

I'm sure he's in top 3 at the very least. Yamaha will be fast and I hope Suzuki can keep the same pace as in previous tests.

As for Honda, I expect them to still be behind the top 6.

He's never finished better than 5th at Jerez in his entire career (including 250s). Ever.

he was 12th after going of track twice.... thats a record, isnt it?

11th and those were unforced errors. Turn 6 is a ..... for his style.

IMO, it doesn't matter how much he may dislike a track or how comparatively poor his results have been there. He is in the Rossi realm, there are some tracks Rossi dislikes and has historically not been so good with, yet he will always find his way to the front. Stoner has that ability right now.

If that were the case I wouldn't even care if Hayden was in 11th lapping a second slower.

As i remember from earlier tests at Jerez it has been quite close in the end,or maybe it was qualifying..
Anyway i think it's going to be close exept for Stoner on top and Rossi second and maybe Lorenzo too.
It's usually a Honda,Yamaha track but seeing the progress from the last visit maybe a Ducati track also,ah i have no idea.
Day2
Stoner
Rossi
Capirossi
Lorenzo
Hayden
Edwards
Vermulen
Dovisioso
Kallio
Elias

i really hope hayden can get himself more at home on the gp9 @ jerez and be ready for qatar, if he gets a podium in the first few that will build his confidence and he can get back in the game... hopefully he will beat dani and then earwig! puig can crawl back under his rock!

I'd never bet against Rossi, but I've got my fingers crossed for someone like Lorenzo or Dovi to get it.

He got the bmw last year however, although I think testing was curtailed.

You are probably right about jerez and stoner's style given a history of relatively poor performance involving his entire career and not just the ducati years.

The Jerez test was wet last year wasn't it?

I see no reason why the results will be any different from any other practice or test session fom the previous two years. Is that ambivalent enough?
