Motogp Austin 2016 - Meet up

I'm moving to Jamaica in a month or so and I'm ....... spewing that 1. The time doesn't line up for Austin and 2. Indi has been cancelled.

Definitely, I'm planning on going to the Cali superbike school and colin Edwards bootcamp this year so Austin is definitely in the plan for next year.

Hello, first post from a long time MotoGP lover. I am headed to Austin, TX...and it will be my first time there for MotoGP. Any and all insight would be greatly appreciated. Events...seating...etc. Thanks in advance!

the track is pretty cool, you can walk around and see some good stuff, not really a bad place to watch. i love turn 15. last year i did the VIP ...., which was ....... awesome...but this year i'm a peasant & have seats in the grand stands. honestly, if i was by myself i would of just done general admission.

austin is a ....... awesome city.

i will say though that the people i encountered last year bitched about austin & says it's not run right & that guna ran way better than how COTA runs GP.

either way, i had a good time last year & i'm now looking forward to the next few weeks.

I wouldn't worry too much about who runs what better, Austin is a great experience all around. General admission is great, walk around, get different views. On Friday the staff didn't mind what grandstand you sit anyway (at least when I went). I recommend watching race from the grass at turn 1, you'll get to see start/finish, 1,2,3, and esses in distance.

Go up the tower. Be sure to walk around during practice, see all the views. Austin, downtown is a great party, be sure to go check it out. And I hear the sushi is mouth watering delicious.

A few must do's in Austin.

1. Motogp race (of course)
2. Handbuilt Motorcycle Show - East 5th St.
About The Handbuilt Motorcycle Show - Revival Cycles
3. Casino El Camino Bar - West 6th st (west side of hwy) Amarillo Burger Best burger in the world. (spicy)
4. Hit all the bars on East 6th St. (near the handbuilt show)
5. Get a drink at the Driskill (West 6th St)
6. Jackalope Bar- West 6th Street (best dive bar on west 6th. Good brunch. also where i met my old lady)
7. AF1 party - will be cool but it's way up north.
8. South Congress Ave - Homeslice Pizza, Guero's taco bar, etc. tons of eats and shopping. Also Revival cycles has a cool moto gear shop inside the South Congress Hotel
9. See the bats fly from under the South Congress bridge. -millions of bats fly out around dusk
10. Franklin's BBQ- well it's good but 3 hour wait in line minimum

Amarillo Burger

A bit alarming for me.

During the day, I'll be at the track so I gotta find out what's open and what's not in the evening & night.
I'm planning to go to AF1 party. Other than that, I just wanna have some great BBQ and find some music.
Widespread Panic shows are sold out and I could go to Euphoria but meh...gotta find some smaller venue gig.

90% of the music is on 6th st. Unless you're going to something specific just walk down 6th until something sounds good.
Tons of BBQ. Mostly great. Just Yelp it. You can't go wrong.
Sometimes long lines.
