MotoGp 2012 Rnd1 Qatar FP.Quali.Predictions

Well that didn't work out well. Didn't let the front heat up then the bike tried to rip my helmet off! 2nd bike didn't run so that sucked!

Anyone got the skinny on what tires the top guys were on? I'm going to assume the Yamaha's and Honda's were on the hard compound?

They started on hard and the final laps went soft. At least is what lap analysis indicates.

Stoner finished on a hard compound but had traffic on final lap, not that he was gonna get the pole but he was gonna improve what he had.

All other pushed hard with soft rubbers, spanish TV been calling them Qualyfying rubber because they aren't good for the race.

BTW, new spanish TV hates Stoner to his guts....and they don't care showing it at all. They even said they want Kangaroo for dinner on Sunday, called him a peasant, and a liar...stating that he would be terribly scared by Lorenzo's time even if he used the Hard rubber and traffic excuses to the press. They also called him a thug.

So, this is how 2012 looks like so far, manufacturer-wise:

Yamaha is the best bike; the 1000cc engine has provided the power it lacked, and they have excellent riders (four of them, all on factory spec bikes, like Honda last year). Will they beat Stoner? No way unless Stoner helps them, but they can beat all others.

Honda has some problems with the new tires, but they also have Stoner, who can work around them. Unlike last year, now it seems the best bike only when Stoner rides it. But it can compete with the Yamaha on all tracks, and HRC has huge resources on tap.

Ducati: they have changed the frame and it is better but it still needs to be ridden like a Ducati, and none of the current riders can do that completely. If I were them, I would focus more on Nicky and Barbera, who at least seem willing to give it a try. (Wait; maybe, quietly, they are doing that already...?)

Cal's got the best electronics, the best tyres, the best bike ...... something!

Oh and he has no personality ..........

GO CAL!!

MGP is getting better each day.

A trio of Ducati riders occupied positions 6 through 8 at the end of FP3, but they were in the opposite order that you would normally expect to find them in. Satellite rider Hector Barbera was quickest of the bunch, followed by faithful teammate Nicky Hayden, while team leaderValentino Rossi brought up the rear. Just another hindrance on Rossi's road back to the front. "We will see what the positions are on Sunday night, when the race is over," the Doctor declared.

But right now they are faster...

"All three of us are very close. Nicky is riding well, and Hector must have done that time with a draft, but in any case he did a good job."

You couldn't have gone any quicker?

"We used the soft tires at the end of the session, but we couldn't get the most out of them."

And what's the situation with the hard tires?

"Much better, especially because I managed to lap with very good consistency, even after 22 or 23 laps on the same tire."

Where did you take your biggest step forward?

"On the front end. It's much more 'honest' than it was last year, giving better feedback and allowing me to take the lines that I want."

But you still have work to do...

"We must remain calm and concentrated. The understeer remains the biggest issue."

What is you objective for tomorrow?

"The second row, which is within our reach. Then we need to improve our race pace; with two or three more tenths we could race with the group of riders ahead of us."

Today the times were slower than last year. Why is that?

"The new Bridgestone tires are better for safety, since they warm up faster, but maybe they have lost some outright performance. We also tested here during the week before last year's race, which helped improve the track conditions."

The fastest three bikes on top speed were all Ducatis, almost hitting 340 km/h.

"On the bike you don't really notice it; 10 or 15 km faster or slower doesn't feel like a big difference. But when you are next to someone at that speed, it makes an impression on you. Maybe we shouldn't be trying to exceed certain limits."
